Naomi Osaka is Louis Vuitton’s newest brand ambassador The tennis player makes her debut in the SS21 campaign

Following 2020 full of successes, including winning her second title at the US Open, being named Sports Illustrated's Sportswoman of the Year and Forbes' highest-paid female athlete of all time, Naomi Osaka begins 2021 with another important milestone: the tennis player is, in fact, Louis Vuitton's new brand ambassador.

Born 22 years ago from a Haitian father and Japanese mother, Naomi has always alternated her passion for tennis with that for fashion. For this reason, she signed a partnership with Nike for over 10 million per season valid until 2025, has created a capsule collection with ADEAM and will be the star of LV's SS21 campaign:

Aside from tennis, my most treasured passion is fashion; and there is no brand more iconic than Louis Vuitton. - Osaka said - It is such an honor to work with Nicolas - he’s a designer I admire so much and we share a mutual love of Japanese culture and style. To become global brand ambassador is truly a dream come true for me.

Nicolas Ghesquière, the Artistic Director of the Maison's women's collections, who also photographed the new campaign, returned the compliments:

Naomi is an exceptional woman who represents her generation and is also a role model for everyone. Her career and convictions are inspiring. I am in awe of Naomi, she stays true to herself and doesn’t compromise on her values.

In the shots with which the athlete inaugurates the collaboration with Louis Vuitton Naomi sports a t-shirt dress decorated with a patchwork of different prints and vibrant colors layered on top of each other, matched with a mini shoulder bag made of LV's signature monogram canvas. The first time Osaka officially wore a Ghesquière item, however, was for the cover of the January issue of Vogue US, shot by Annie Leibovitz. On this occasion, the tennis player chose an asymmetrical blue and white striped slip dress.
