Amina Muaddi and AWGE present their first collection together An interesting collaboration combining the aesthetics of both the shoe designer and A$AP Rocky

Amina Muaddi proves to be one of the current hottest names in the fashion system. In just one year she presented her first collection of bags and jewelry, debuted in the role of shoe designer for Fenty and was awarded with the "Oscar of shoes" (as Collaborator of the Year Award at the FN Achievement Awards 2020). Now, just weeks before 2020 ends, she records yet another success by unveiling a collaboration with AWGEA$AP Rocky's creative agency.

As the designer tells to Vogue, the collection was born from friendship, from mutual esteem and is inspired by the rapper's personal style and cultural impact:

For me, it was important that the first collaboration I do is one that is special and close to my heart. I wanted to do it with someone who shares my values and my perspective on creativity and design. Rocky doesn’t compromise himself in his work or whatever he does; he’s a perfectionist the same way I am. - And she adds - It was just about incorporating his universe, his aesthetic, his visuals. A lot of the inspiration came from his personal jewelry, and things that I would see him wearing. Even before we did the collaboration, I would tell him, "Oh, I love this. This could be so cool on a shoe."

The result is four shoe styles, declined in a total of 10 variations and all featuring the famous heel recalling an asymmetrical hourglass. One of the must-have shoes is definitely Phoenix, a PVC slingback decorated with a crystal bow in the shape of a butterfly, a tribute to A$AP Yams who, as Rocky explains "he had a giant birthmark on his face that we said resembled the butterfly. Since his passing, we always put it in our work, hearing it secretly, in visuals, or in clothing collaborations. I think it’s dope because it kind of goes with a lot of the other stuff that I have made previously with butterflies. People could kind of style those things together.Flacko 95, on the other hand, is a patent leather sandal that features an ankle strap, created with a silver chain encrusted with crystals and completed with an AWGE logo pendant, evoking A$AP Rocky's Cuban chain jewelry. The last models of the collaboration are two gladiator sandals styled with satin straps adorned with crystals that reach up to the calf or thigh, described by Muaddi as "very sexy and fierce." The designer also suggests how to include her new creations in our outfits:

The gladiator is something that you could wear with something short: a skirt or a dress. The shoe with the butterfly, you can wear it with anything from jeans to a gown because it’s very versatile. It’s very elegant, but it can be dressed down or dressed up in so many ways.

All AWGE x Amina Muaddi shoes are worn by Tina Tunakey in the campaign shot by Pierre-Ange Carlotti

The collection is available on Net-a-PorterAntonioliMy TheresaBrowns and other stores that have always been selling Muaddi's creations. Prices range from €1,130 to €1,270.
