Nike Basketball launches the Swoosh Fly women capsule

First-ever basketball apparel collection made specifically for female athletes

Nike Basketball launches the Swoosh Fly women capsule First-ever basketball apparel collection made specifically for female athletes

It was the 80s when Nike, with the slogan "Who said a woman wasn't meant to fly?" launched the Air Force III in a female version. Since then, Nike has continued to make big efforts towards the fast-growing female audience with new silhouettes and campaigns designed to speak to the woman athlete, sneaker collector, or style enthusiast.

Today the brand took another step, introducing a collection designed for female basketball players. Nike Swoosh Fly, thanks to the tips of champions such as Sue BirdElena Delle-DonneA'ja WilsonBreanna Stewart e Sabrina Ionescu, improves this sport's wardrobe essentials, reflecting the needs and natural curves of the female body. The result is 8 items, a mix of on-court and off-court - from the basketball jerseys to the sweatpants - made of softer fabrics and distinguished by authenticity, empowerment and wearability.

Female basketball players will no longer shop in the men's department, trying to adapt those garments to their bodies with little tricks. The hoodie has a larger hood to fit hair buns and ponytails, a front pocket to store mobile phones and small stuff. The Swoosh Fly Crossover Short abandons the traditional cylindrical shape to embrace a new fit: narrower waist, more space for hips and legs.

"Swoosh Fly is a moment to finally say we have something that’s our own. We don’t need to share it with the guys.” – says A’ja Wilson about the collection.

The Nike Basketball Swoosh Fly collection will be available worldwide starting July 10th online and at selected retailers.
