Pattern Group launches "Changing the Rules of the Game" From the D-house platform to artificial intelligence, the Pattern Group strengthens its innovation strategy

At a time when luxury is evolving from a concept of value linked exclusively to exclusivity toward a new definition based on authenticity, sustainability, and responsibility, Pattern Group, Italy’s first hub for luxury design and production headquartered in Turin, presents the program “Changing the Rules of the Game.” This plan places innovation strategy at the center of its long-term industrial vision, with the aim of supporting brands in a rapidly changing market increasingly influenced by environmental regulations and new consumer expectations.
A program driven by management and the new generation
The project is developed by a dedicated Corporate Innovation team, directly supported by top management. Among the key figures are Luca Sburlati, CEO of Pattern Group, and Maurizio Savioli, Group General Director, together with the second generation of the founding partners. This generational transition represents not only continuity with the company’s founding values, but also the contribution of new skills and forward-looking perspectives, within a framework of collaboration and shared development.
D-house, the heart of the innovation ecosystem
At the center of the new system is D-house – Dual Innovation Hub, the platform through which Pattern anticipates market developments and translates emerging technologies, new materials, and development models into concrete industrial solutions for luxury brands. D-house operates according to a model of open and ecosystem-based innovation, thanks to its partnership with Designtech and collaboration with the Group’s production hubs. This approach makes it possible to turn experimentation into real-world applications, reducing research and development time and costs and facilitating pilot projects carried out directly in cooperation with production units. In addition, its new location within Designtech allows brands to access advanced technologies, specialized expertise, and development opportunities more quickly and efficiently.
Structured innovation: the challenge facing the luxury sector
As explained by Francesco Botto, Innovation Development Manager, and Alessio Martorella, Strategic Business Manager, the luxury sector is undergoing a profound transformation: on one hand, the need to balance heritage and innovation; on the other, increasing regulatory pressure in Europe on ESG issues. In this scenario, simple experimentation is no longer enough: it becomes necessary to create innovation in a structured way, through systemic programs involving multiple company functions and the entire supply chain.
MagnoLab and the challenge of the circular economy
Pattern Group’s innovation ecosystem is also strengthened through its participation in MagnoLab, a network of companies in the textile supply chain based in the Biella district that shares infrastructure and expertise to accelerate the transition toward a circular economy. Through this collaboration, Pattern can support brands in addressing the main challenges introduced by new European regulations, such as product traceability, mandatory recycled content, and producer responsibility. Within MagnoLab, the Group is also developing an industrial spin-off dedicated to prototyping products made with recycled and traceable materials, which will later be scaled to industrial production.
Increasingly specialized industrial hubs
Another key element of the program is the vertical development of the Group’s industrial hubs, which are evolving into true specialized hubs for each product category:
- Turin: ready-to-wear
- SMT in Correggio: knitwear
- Idee Partners in Scandicci: leather goods
- Dyloan Bond Factory in Chieti: special processing
This structure makes it possible to strengthen development and production capabilities while maintaining high quality standards and competitive response times.
Artificial intelligence and digital twins in production processes
A cross-cutting element of the “Changing the Rules of the Game” program is the integration of artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and digital twins into production and organizational processes. Digital twins, virtual models that replicate real systems and processes, make it possible to improve data management and facilitate the analysis required by European regulations on sustainability and traceability. These activities will be centralized at the Turin headquarters, located in an urban and cultural environment increasingly oriented toward technological innovation.
