Mattel has created a Barbie version of Queen Elizabeth A highly detailed limited edition on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the British monarch's reign

Queen Elizabeth II is officially the longest reigning monarch in British history. There are many initiatives to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, i.e. her 70 years of reign, the cutest is the one by Mattel, who decided to pay homage to The Queen with a Barbie doll made in her likeness. Presented on the day of her 96th birthday, the limited edition doll looks just like her and reproduces even in the smallest detail the look that Her Majesty has sported in portraits throughout her life, starting with the ivory-white dress, similar to the creation decorated with crystal daisies by court designer Angela Kelly and worn in 2019 on the occasion of Donald and Melania Trump's London visit.

Completing the outfit of the special Barbie matchy gloves; diamond jewelry; blue headband on which stand two ribbons with miniatures inspired by the orders of the royal family, the pink was given to the Queen by her father George VI and the blue by her grandfather George V, while the silver pin pinned under the headband represents the Order of The Garter brooch, the highest order of knighthood in the United Kingdom. On the head of Queen Elizabeth II in the Mattel version shines the Queen Mary fringed tiara, the same one she wore on her wedding day to Philip. The precious accessory is not only linked to a very important day for the British sovereign, but is a kind of tribute to five generations of Windsor women because in the past it belonged first to her grandmother, then to her mother and Elizabeth lent it to her daughter, Princess Anne, and her granddaughter, Princess Beatrix for their wedding.

The packaging of Barbie Queen Elizabeth II is inspired by the style of Buckingham Palace: crest-shaped border with 3D decorations and interior panel with throne and red carpet recalling the throne room of Buckingham Palace. The doll is part of the Tribute Collection dedicated to iconic women who have changed or inspired history and is on sale from 21 April on Amazon, Mattel, Harrods, Hamley's, Selfridges and John Lewis. The price? 75$.
