Making home a more hospitable place is a goal that starts from the small details. A little green in an apartment is good for both the sight and the heart. Often, however, green thumb is not a common skill, and indoor plants are too difficult to manage. Space limits can also prevent you from transforming the living room into the much desired green lung of the block. Terrarium is the perfect solution to limit space and patience to bring home the freshness of the natural world. It is a small garden in a jar, where decorative plants grow in a closed environment, and it’s easily replicable at home with a few tools, customizable and accessible from the outside to allow continuous changes. It’s a tiny glass world where green nature shines with creativity and desire to live in order never to forget what is (still) outside the door of the house. What you need
The best part of making a DIY terrarium is to obtain a unique decorative element, able to amaze even those who create it. Also in this case, do not forget the styling will make the project more beautiful and snug to your mood. The necessaire is not much and easy to find, minimum effort is required and the highest levels of satisfaction are expected for the final result.

Glass vase
The glass container plays a key role in the realization of a terrarium. There is no perfect vase, but only the one that best suits the project: rounded, long, smooth or textured, vases; decorated in wood for a "greenhouse" effect or with metal details to give an elegant touch. Options are infinite, like personality traits.

Succulent plants and seedlings
Choose cacti and aerial plants. They have no roots and live absorbing the necessary humidity from the air but be careful: the little ones suffer the cold, and it is good to never keep them at less than 7,- (even if it is hardly so cold in a house). It is always good to decide to insert in your terrarium plants without roots, suitable for the size of the pot or container in which they will be stored and suitable for humid environments to avoid them to suffer inside a portable microclimate.

Pebbles (pebbles collected on holiday)
Best used here as decorative layer and dehumidifiers, pebbles complete the aesthetic appeal of the terrarium as the whipped cream on an ice cream. Adding a few rocks stolen from the beach this summer will fill the project with emotional vibrations.

Step-by-step Instructions
Once all the material is collected, the little green corner is ready to become a reality.

Identify the area where the terrarium will be placed, depending on the vase chosen.

Clean the vase well inside, as you would for jewelry.

Place a layer of about two centimeters of pebbles in the pot

Add vegetable granules or activated charcoal and distribute over the pebbles;

Abound with soil so that the plants can take root well;

Create small cavities in the soil, using your hands or some tools.

Insert the plants into the created holes and compact the soil

Add the moss, lightly moistened, and place it on the soil. Press lightly.

It’s time to decorate by adding a personal touch to your terrarium with mini-characters, gadgets, objects of any kind or fake flowers.
Tips for a perfect result
After deciding on styling and decoration of the vase according to your mood and adding a personal touch to the terrarium, the only tricks to keep are maintenance and choice of plants. The mini paradise on earth needs to be cleaned monthly, because dust (present in all domestic environments) can take possession of its surface. A trick: use a cork to close the terrarium and keep it warmer, thus also avoiding dust deposits. Then, pay attention to the choice of plants.
