Kim Cattrall stars in the new Farfetch campaign

Kim Cattrall stars in the new Farfetch campaign From billboards on Sunset Strip, the actress shows us that there is a life beyond Sex & the City

Samantha Jones is out of the group. She moved to London for work, offended and disappointed, after Carrie fired her as her publicist. No one has seen her since. Not a FaceTime call or a surprise visit for a Cosmopolitan and a "Toss or Take?" party. Just a few texts and a bunch of flowers for Mr Big's funeral. And Kim Cattrall? The actress said goodbye forever to her most famous character, refusing any involvement in And Just Like That despite the disappointment of fans:

"Me playing [Samantha], that I can assure you will never happen. This isn't about more money, this is not about more scenes, it's not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another."

The new chapter in the British-born actress's life establishes her as a fashion icon, photographed on billboards on the Sunset Strip in an AREA checked blazer, a pair of black trousers and a look that seems to challenge us to be cooler than her.

The image is part of Farfetch's new spring 2022 campaign titled #YourChoiceYourFarfetch in which Cattrall stars alongside the ultimate Y2K movie crush Josh Hartnett, up-and-coming Spanish singer-songwriter María Isabel and guitarist and saxophonist Steve Lacy

"Iconic fashion moments from pop culture celebrities are the ultimate reference for this generation of stylists and designer. Fashion icons that emerged from pop culture in the ’90s, their aesthetic and approach to style, feels so relevant and modern now as it is quite bold, but also very wearable."

Said Farfetch creative director Yannis Henrion, pointing out that "Kim is truly an icon, not only because of her style choices, but because of who she is as a person - she is real. A true pop icon." The styling, done by the actress herself who chose the garments from the e-tailer's vast offering, reflects Samantha Jones' glamorous and daring outfits: butter yellow silk trench coat, graphic print mock-up, accessorized with a red Prada bag; sculptural check blazer with jewel buttons, black trousers and pink mules.

The Farfetch campaign is just one of many projects featuring the former SATC star. Since her adventure alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis ended, Kim has starred in several series, though not as successful. Between 2014 and 2016 Cattrall was part of the cast of Sensitive Skin, in 2018 Tell Me A Story, while more recently she played Margaret Monreaux in Filthy Rich, the TV talk show host who finds herself having to manage the family business after the sudden death of her husband.

Kim passed on the SATC reboot, preferring to work on two new projects. The first is How I Met Your Father, a spin-off of How I Met Your Mother released on 18 January on the Hulu platform, where she plays the adult version of the character played by Hilary Duff, the mother who tells her son the story of how she met his father. In addition, news broke last November that Cattrall will be in the reboot of Queer As Folk, the cult 2000s series that followed the adventures of a group of gay men in Manchester. In the show, now set in New Orleans, she will play a martini-loving Southern socialite raised in a mobile home. What about Emily in Paris 3? For now, fan theories of a crossover between the Netflix series and SATC is just a rumor. The meeting between Emily and Samantha remains just a beautiful dream.
