The Pantone Color Institute each year chooses the most influential shade in the global scenario from a careful analysis of trends carried out in the most varied fields: from design, to fashion through the new digital universes. This year the selected color is the PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, a purple periwinkle dark shade that embraces the calming properties of blue fused with a dynamic purple-red undertone that suggest an energetic presence that encourages creativity and imaginative expressiveness. A strong echo in the new shade also comes from the neon hyper-present in the digital world, which takes refuge in the chromo and iridescent shades of videogames, social media that catalyze attention and in the new frontier of reality with its possibilities represented by the metaverse.

Laurie Pressman, Vice President of Pantone Color Institute confirms the importance of color in reflecting changes in global culture, demonstrating the will of Pantone to offer a visual answer to deep questions that can emerge in a daily life in reconstruction:

"By creating a new color for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year educational color program, we reflect innovation and global transformation in place. While society continues to recognize color as a fundamental form of communication and way of expressing, influencing and creating ideas and emotions, involvement and connection, the complexity of this new blue hue infused with red-Purple highlights the boundless possibilities that appear before us."

If the Pantone Color of The Year 2021 was for the first time in the history of the Color Institute a combo of gray and sun yellow, more precisely composed of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, in 2022 the emergence of reality beyond the empaxis of the global pandemic is positively colored by looking at the continuous transitions with Very Pery and its strong digital component.

In fashion a similar shade, bright and with a strong blue component was already beginning to re-emerge for some time with the dynamism of periwinkle and lilac, especially in the Spring Summer and Fall/Winter collections of brands such as Givenchy, Balenciaga, Valentino, Versace, Christopher John Roges and Bottega Veneta with consequent reverberations in retail. The celebrities who paved the way at Very Pery before it was officially coded by Pantone were Kylie Jenner, at the Met Gala 2019 themed "Camp" in a custom outfit by Atelier Versace with silhouette-fitting mermaid net with coordinated wig, Lady Gaga in the most recent August 2021 with a total look Valentino Haute Couture with sculpted shapes and an important headdress in feathers and Olivia Rodrigo at the American Music Awards in David Koma London.

Very Pery also instills a sense of playful freshness in the interior design and interior design, says Pantone, animating the space through unusual colour combinations. Its versatility makes it suitable for a range of different materials, textures and finishes, even if used on a painted wall, on the home decor, or as an eye-catching accent in an accessory, Very Peri adds a touch of vibrant color and positive vibes.
