Lace obsession: three new make-up trends where lace is the protagonist What are and how can these gothic and romantic looks be recreated
Who would have thought that lace could find its place even in make-up? Yet TikTok confirms it: this romantic and refined detail moves from clothes to the face, becoming the star of incredible make-up looks. From delicate stencils to fully covered faces, lace turns into a new medium to experiment with, here’s how!
Lace obsession in make-up: the lace face

The first trend circulating on TikTok is called lace face and partly recalls the yarn face seen a while ago. The technique consists of applying lace cutouts to the face, fixing them with eyelash glue until the entire surface is covered, then applying blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, and eyebrows. The result is a very particular couture effect, reminiscent of the looks created by Pat McGrath for the Givenchy spring/summer 2016 show. The idea was introduced by beauty creator Charlotte Roberts, and quickly picked up by many other TikTok users.
Lace lips
The second trend is called lace lips and uses lace in a completely different way from lace face. Liquid eyeshadow or eyeliner is applied onto the lace, which is then pressed onto the lips like a stencil. This way, the color transfers the lace pattern onto the skin, creating a super realistic effect. If needed, a pen eyeliner can be used to better define the pattern. To finish, lips are outlined with a black pencil and, for those who want, completed with a clear gloss.
Lace eyes
For the last trend, lace eyes, I’ve seen different ways to incorporate lace into your look. Some use the stencil technique like for lace lips, creating a really elegant look if applied only on the eyelid, or a more editorial effect by turning the lace into a kind of mask. Another option is to cut small pieces of lace to apply around the eyes as decorations. Finally, some cut a piece of fabric shaped like the eyelid and fix it directly with eyelash glue. In short, there are plenty of ideas, but the real question is: would you ever try one of these looks?
