Female artists making their Sanremo debut: from Alessandra Amoroso to Clara Soccini

What should we expect from their performances on the Ariston stage?

Female artists making their Sanremo debut: from Alessandra Amoroso to Clara Soccini What should we expect from their performances on the Ariston stage?

Whether they were veterans, established stars, or artists with little experience behind them, everyone who has stepped on it until now says that the Ariston stage is special, has the magic to thrill like no other. For better or for worse. There's the anxiety of hitting a wrong note or forgetting the lyrics, but also the excitement of presenting your song and seeing if the audience will fall in love with it. Well-known figures who have made history at the event and will return for this 74th edition, like Loredana Bertè and Fiorella Mannoia, as reported by nssgclub.com, but the debutantes of Sanremo 2024 will soon discover it too. Artists like Big Mama and Alessandra Amoroso, two different figures in terms of sound and style, but equally interesting and protagonists of the contemporary Italian music scene, are approaching the Sanremo competition for the first time. How will they approach the most famous stage in Italy? Will they be nervous? What will they wear? Will their song become a hit? Will they reach the top 3? Here's everything we know so far about the participation of debuting artists at Sanremo 2024.

Alessandra Amoroso

Despite 15 years of career, three million copies sold, 52 platinum records, seven studio albums, two live albums, over 200 concerts, many hits, and four appearances at the Festival as a guest, Alessandra Amoroso will be in competition at Sanremo 2024 for the first time. The song "Fino a qui," written by the former Amici contestant herself along with Federica Abbate, Jacopo Ettorre, and Takagi and Ketra, seems to have pushed her to take this big step. It's a ballad that talks about growth, awareness, and the strength to rise again, containing an image of a long fall from a metaphorical skyscraper, a reference to the movie L'odio directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, where, like the protagonist, during the fall, she repeats, "So far, so good." Amoroso also suggested the best way to listen to it: "sofa, candles, incense, and this reflection: after a fall, a thousand possibilities can open up." While the artist has already revealed many details about the piece she will present to the public, also anticipating that during the cover night she will perform a medley with BoomDaBash, there is still much curiosity about the outfits she will wear during the Festival. Announcing her participation in the competition, the singer deleted all the photos from her social media channels, returning to post with a completely renewed look, a radical change featuring a medium-length, layered, wavy hairstyle with bangs, light brown with honey-colored highlights, and a more sensual and edgy style. The new wardrobe includes a lot of black, leather, and outfits with cut-out details; who knows if she will flaunt it from February 6 to 10. For now, we only know that her stylist will be Marco de Lucia.

Rose Villain

Milanese, thirty-four years old, charisma, talent, and coolness, Rose Villain is the outsider to bet on at Sanremo 2024 (if you haven't already, include her in your FantaSanremo team!). She arrives at the Festival with Click Boom!, a song produced by her husband Sixpm, which plays on contrasts: Sanremo pop and more intense, almost industrial sounds, autobiographical elements, and fiction. The lyrics and sound will reflect the artist's duality, as she herself revealed, "there is both the slightly melancholic part and my tougher side." Those who have already listened to it say that the song is impactful and has all the characteristics to enter our lives and never leave. There is also much hype for her performance on Friday, February 9th, the cover night, during which Rose Chemical will duet with Gianna Nannini with a medley of the Tuscan singer's hits. There is also much curiosity about the look that Rose will flaunt during the Festival week, promising to showcase the many facets of her personality. At least according to what her stylist, Rujana Cantoni, revealed. It seems that the artist will wear a different brand every night, "following emotions and instinct, with the sole aim of wanting to amaze." We can't wait to see her, as well as listen to her new song and Radio Sakura, her second album that will be released on March 8th.

Angelina Mango

Twenty-two years old, second place at the Amici edition concluded last May, Angelina Mango is one of the most anticipated debutantes at Sanremo 2024. Growing up with music literally in her blood, the daughter of Laura Valente, the voice of Matia Bazar, and Pino Mango, she will have to prove to those who still don't know her that she is not just a showbiz baby. However, the singer is not afraid and seems determined to face the new adventure "serenely and charged," like someone about to enjoy a great party. Giving her confidence is La noia, a song written together with Madame and produced by Dardust. With phrases like "È la cumbia della noia" or "una corona di spine sarà il dress code per la mia festa", the lyrics offer an alternative conception of boredom that «should not be fought, it's precious time to dedicate to ourselves. And in difficult moments, you have to dance on it». From a sound perspective, it will be an uptempo piece with references to Mexican cumbia, combining the Neapolitan sounds of Angelina Mango with the more electronic elements of Madame. Curious? For the cover night, Angelina has chosen to pay tribute to her father with La rondine, while in terms of look, she will rely on Nick Cerioni. For her appearance at Sanremo Giovani and for the photos published on social media, the singer has worn various pieces from Etro, will she confirm the Italian brand for Sanremo 2024?

BigMama

Born in Avellino in 2000 under the sign of Pisces, BigMama took to the stage of the Teatro Ariston last year, performing with Elodie on the cover night with American Woman. If on that occasion she caught the attention of those who didn't know her for talent, charisma, and style, her debut in competition at Sanremo 2024 promises to spark even more excitement. In the 74th edition, she brings La rabbia non ti basta, a song entirely written by her that mixes dance and rap, a message to her younger self speaking to all those who face bullying and violence. As revealed to G-Club, "It's a song that I deeply care about. A song that originates from love and has the power to spread love everywhere. It's a song that I dedicated to the most important person in my life: my younger self. In a sense, it's a mix of apologies on one hand and a request for courage on the other." From her first freestyles, BigMama captivates us with her sincerity, direct and authentic approach when addressing themes like body positivity, bullying, sexuality, and the courage to be oneself without compromises. All of this while consistently moving and touching those who listen to her. And on the Festival stage, we expect nothing less. We are eager to see her performance with La rabbia non basta, as well as in the duet with Gaia, La Niña, and Sissi on Labelle's Lady Marmalade on Friday, February 9th. The look? Still top secret, we only know that her stylist will be Azazel.

Clara Soccini

Clara Soccini arrives among the 30 singers competing at Sanremo 24 after a year full of successes: from the role of rapper Crazy J in Mare Fuori to the Sanremo Giovani victory last December with Diamanti grezzi, where she sings "Cosa siamo noi? Solo diamanti grezzi" or "Perdiamo tutto, l'amore è una sala slot". It is a song about self-discovery that begins with an orchestral introduction and then gains a more sustained rhythm, merging with Clara's vocal qualities. These same qualities she will likely highlight in the duet on Friday, February 9th, with Ivana Spagna and the Coro di voci bianche del Teatro Regio di Torino on Il cerchio della vita. What look will she have at the Festival? Clara doesn't reveal too much, but she assures that "Every one of my dresses will have a storytelling. Let's say I hope to be the girl next door, yes, but classy. And above all, I hope to bring with me the determination of Crazy J." We are very curious, just as we look forward to listening to her entire album titled Primo, which includes, in addition to Diamanti grezzi, also Ragazzi fuori, part of the soundtrack of Mare fuori 4, available on Raiplay from February 1st.
