For a warm, fluffy and cool winter

The scarf brands you maybe don't know about For a warm, fluffy and cool winter

The scarf is an underestimated accessory. It not only serves as protection from the winter cold, a barrier of soft fabric that protects the neck and part of the face from gusts of wind and cold temperatures. It's a detail that enhances the style of an outfit and can even reveal something about us, depending on how we wear it. Virginie Viard also recognised this when she accompanied many looks from Chanel's Metiers d'Art 2023/2024 collection with different coloured scarves, which she placed in a very specific way: she left one end long and wrapped the other halfway around her neck and then let it fall freely down her back. Another point in favour of the scarf? It's a great idea for Christmas presents. Just choose it warm, soft and with a design that suits the style of the recipient.

G-Club has selected the most interesting scarf brands of the moment, including some you may not yet know. Which scarf will be your favourite?

Abstract

Since 2014, the year of the first abstract motif, Abstract has been experimenting with prints, textile processing and special patterns that are transformed into sarongs, scarves, beach towels, garments and shawls. Each product is made in the Lake Como region by textile artisans who pass on their passion for their work from generation to generation. The scarves from this Made-in-Italy brand are warm clouds with which you can face the winter cold in style. There are many options, depending on your personal taste: from the tartan model with combed wool, which gives it a very soft texture, to the plain-coloured model, padded with water-repellent recycled nylon, which protects and warms thanks to the special Valtherm®-certified padding.

For more than 40 years, GOBI has been working with Mongolian herders living in the vast steppes, combining their atavistic craft techniques with modern technology and a focus on sustainability. All products, including the scarves, are made in our factory in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, where everything from processing the raw cashmere to making the yarn and final production is done in-house. Every step is traceable, trusted breeders treat their herd like family and the garments are ethically produced, making GOBI's jumpers, coats, trousers and accessories even more valuable.

In 1930, Cecilio Valgañón began making textiles on his handlooms, producing handkerchiefs, scarves and blankets. In 1950, his brand Mantas Ezcaray began to incorporate mohair into its creations, leading to an artisanal process based on the finest natural fibres such as cashmere and extra-fine merino wool that continues to this day. The result is high-quality scarves, blankets, bags and cushions, often in vitamin colours and prints.

Barts

It was in the summer of 1986 that Bart Koene successfully sold hand-sewn swim shorts on the très chic beaches of Saint-Tropez. Since then, his Barts brand has evolved to include bags, hats, swimwear and beachwear for women, men and children, as well as winter accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves. The brand's headquarters in Amsterdam's Houthaven district is the starting point for all collections, which are known for their cosy, cool and colourful style and their mix of traditional craftsmanship and innovative techniques.

Inoui editions

Inoui Editions was born from the friendship between two creative women, Lise and Mathilde. Together, they worked with major fashion houses before combining their talents in 2009 to create Inoui Editions, a brand based on printed scarves, each of which tells a story like a painting, and whose creations reflect a love of the Bay of Somme, the land of their childhood with its lush nature, and a passion for art, which translates into scarves, shawls, fouta and bags. All are made from wool, cotton, silk, linen and cashmere. The result is tres chic!

PLĀS Collective

Authenticity, originality, ethics and art are at the heart of the philosophy of PLĀS, a Milan-based fashion brand specialising in limited-edition garments and design objects created by a global collective of artists for the creative community. Each year, the brand invites artists and designers from around the world to collaborate on a limited edition collection around a specific theme. Among the handmade artworks and garments, the thin ODDITY scarf made of soft knitted fabric with the characteristic Oracle stitch stands out. The highlight of this piece? It can be worn around the neck, as a belt, as a headband, as a bra and as an accessory that adds a twist to our style.

IrelandsEye Knitwear

The IrelandsEye Knitwear story began in 1988 with six members of the O'Sullivan family and continues today with three generations of the same family and a team of 50 employees. The brand draws inspiration from the nature, colours and textures of the Irish countryside. The result is knitwear that combines style, comfort and warm yarns that protect against the merciless winds of the Atlantic and Irish Sea. Traditional Aran stitches are modernised with a fresh design that gives IrelandsEye Knitwear garments a look that is not only perfect for the coming winter months, but also timeless.

In 1993, the Samsøe brothers opened a small jewellery shop of the same name in Copenhagen's Latin Quarter, which was soon expanded to include high-quality knitwear, especially for men. in 2000, Peter Sextus and Per-Ulrik Andersen took over Samsøe Samsøe and transformed it into an international fashion house specialising in modern clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women. These garments include scarves, which, like the rest of the range, have an aesthetic that combines the utilitarian simplicity of Copenhagen street style with minimalist Scandi style.

Tour-lava

Tour-lava is a Copenhagen-based clothing brand founded in 2021 by friends Sofie Ken and Kathrine Maron. Their collections are inspired by vintage aesthetics, especially the colourful, quirky and fun world of the 1970s and 1980s, which is reflected in the colour combinations, the different textures and the care taken in the workmanship and quality of each design. The result is playful, cool garments such as the Lil cotton scarf, which comes in a striped or star pattern and can be knotted in an infinite number of ways, worn with a brooch or as a headband.

Secondland

Secondland is an upcycling fashion brand based in Budapest, founded in 2020 by managing director Katalin Lili Tasnádi and the brand's creative director, Kinga Réta Vecsei. Réta's childhood memories and vintage pieces passed down in her family inspire Secondland's romantic and playful style. This results in interesting garments such as the Fera scarf, which gives every outfit a new twist.
