Yoon Ahn, designer and founder of AMBUSH, revealed all the details of the new collection with Nike and NBA:

I think I am the first woman designer to collaborate with Nike and the NBA. The project began with a conversation about making women feel proud to represent their favorite teams. IThe project began with a conversation about making women feel proud to represent their favorite teams. Coming from fashion, I wanted to bring an attitude and distinctive AMBUSH details to offer strength and style to women.

The result is a series of garments celebrating the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets and revisiting in a womenswear version elements designed for the men's wardrobe, giving them new shapes and materials.

Oftentimes when you look at the basketball world, the uniforms and jerseys come mainly from menswear. - Explains Yoon - There hasn’t been an interpretation of how women could wear those pieces. I wanted to use that masculine energy and flip it around, so that girls would be more comfortable wearing it.

The tight-fitting tops are inspired by swimwear and nod to gaming uniforms. Classic tearaway warm-up pants are converted into insulated trousers complete with contrast-color double waistbands. The jackets, perhaps the coolest piece of the collabo, are decorated with the logo of the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets in an oversized version.

When designing the looks Yoon was inspired by icons from the 1990s such as Aaliyah and TLC:

The collection is really inspired by the 90s, when girls wore baggy pants in a fun or sexy way. It can also be very stylish. - And she adds - I thought of all these amazing and strong female characters from the ’90s who would come out in men’s clothes, and I wanted to see how we could carry that attitude, but bring in more feminine forms.

One of the highlights of the collection is, definitely, the new pair of Nike Dunk High. The features? A classic black and white color palette and an elongated, accentuated shape, which recalls the silhouette of motorcycles, with the swoosh extending beyond the heel.

Along with apparel and sneakers, the offer includes In addition to the two balloons, as we see in the video and photos posted by the designer: one with the logos AMBUSH and Nike in the classic orange color, while the other is cream, with pink details such as the NBA logo and the writing Spalding.

The Nike x AMBUSH NBA collection will be launched worldwide on December 11 on Nike.com and at selected retailers.
