Camp Rock core: here are five garments and accessories to rediscover for a Y2K throwback Just in time for the release of the third chapter of the saga (more or less)
I know that, just like me, at ten years old you had a crazy crush on Joe Jonas who played Gotta Find You to Demi Lovato on the lake shore. In 2008 we witnessed the birth of the Jonas Brothers phenomenon, the crooked knees of Mitchie Torres singing This Is Me and we thought that if Shane Gray from an arrogant superstar could become a boy in love with a voice he had heard by chance, then maybe even the proto-illnesses that we liked in elementary and middle school had some hope (no, it wasn't true, but it was nice to believe it).
The return of the franchise with Camp Rock 3 on Disney
On August 13, Camp Rock 3 finally came out on Disney, with Jonas still protagonists and with Demi as producer. But do you remember how they used to dress? If your answer is' bad ', yes, you are not all wrong. It was still Disney Channel back then. But looking at both movies I found a couple of goodies that in my opinion, with the overwhelming return of the Y2K style, could still work. I swear, I'm not talking about dressing in layers or whatever style they had during the opening night of the first movie (I still think about it and shiver), but about clothes and accessories that I think could still work perfectly today, even if only to go out shopping.

The metallic bag with pockets
In the first scenes of Camp Rock, Tess gets out of her limousine with a perfectly '90/Y2K look, from the hoop earrings to the purple blouse (you had it too, one of those that came below the waist) to the tight white pants. And then there's her, a bag that I bet you've seen everywhere on TikTok, small but roomy and definitely in line with the vibes of the period. His was silver, but also gold, pink, green, all colors work. The important thing is that it is worn under the arm or by the handles, that it is shiny and metallic and that it has several pockets, where you will punctually put things that will remain there for the next twenty years. Nothing has changed, has it?
The denim jacket
Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam begins with Mitchie and her light denim jacket, a garment that will stay with her until the end of the film. It is a timeless classic, which she wears over different clothes and which apparently does not let her shed a single drop of sweat dancing and singing under the summer sun by the lake. But it's still a Disney Channel Original Movie, the protagonists never have these problems. In any case, such a jacket can be personalized with brooches, patches and, why not, if you have a particularly strong artistic vein, the back can be decorated with drawings made with the appropriate colors and rhinestones. I don't recommend this last option if, like me, you can't even make a circle using a glass, but never say never: you might discover that you have a hidden talent.

The fringed boots
Admit it, it's from the Camp Rock promotional photos that you noticed Demi Lovato's brown fringed boots. She wears them with the iconic Final Jam look with a wine blouse and black skinny jeans, but in reality these were also one of the cornerstones of Mitchie's look from the first film. Today we could make them more current following in the wake of the camperos, thus choosing a more Texas model, always fringed, to remain more in the cowboy romance mood that has been depopulating lately (did you know that the TV series on the series Wild Love by Elsie Silver is coming out? Well, now yes).
The statement earrings
I had a lot of them (I still have them, actually), but whether we're talking about rims so big that they look like car tires or real eighteenth-century chandeliers (yes, I can see you wearing the Beauty and the Beast candlesticks, don't deny it) MAXI earrings were a must have of the 90s and the early 2000s. Camp Rock is a riot of hoops since the bonfire and even before, and all the female characters, in one way or another, have at least a pair. Gold, silver or fluorescent colors? It's up to you to decide.

The colorful flannel shirt
Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam could be easily summarized with plaid flannel. This is especially noticeable during We Can't Back Down (pay attention to the next rewatch): the wardrobe of a good fifty percent of the cast consists of plaid shirts in rather bright colors. Today we could brush up on a very Tumblr style and tie it at the waist over jeans, wearing it if we were cold during summer evenings, or show it off open over a white or black tank top as soon as autumn comes. In any case, this is also one of those timeless classics, which will probably never go out of style.
