Everything we know about Avril Lavigne's new album The singer returns with a greatest hits, a new tour and the most iconic of her looks

More than 20 years after the release of Let Go, her debut album, Avril Lavigne is ready to take us back to the days when we watched TRL and belted out "He was a skater boy/She said, "See you later, boy"/He wasn't good enough for her/Now he's a super star" with her first greatest hits and a world tour. Simply titled Avril Lavigne - Greatest Hits, it's already available for pre-order but will officially be released on June 21, just a few weeks after the tour's first date on May 22 in Vancouver.

Avril Lavigne - Greatest Hits: the tracklist

It's spring 2002 when Avril Lavigne emerges onto the music scene and quickly becomes the symbol of Y2K pop-punk. With over 40 million albums sold worldwide, she has influenced an entire generation, growing up singing Sk8er Boi, Complicated, When You’re Gone, and many other songs, all included in the tracklist of Avril Lavigne - Greatest Hits. The new release collects a total of twenty tracks that trace Avril's entire career, from I’m With You in 2002, Don't Tell Me and My Happy Ending in 2004, Girlfriend in 2007, to collaborations with Blackbear in Love It When You Hate Me, with Machine Gun Kelly in Bois Lie, and with YUNGBLUD in I'm a Mess. Alongside the greatest hits release, Lavigne has announced extended editions of four of her albums - Under My Skin, Best Damn Thing, Goodbye Lullaby, and Avril Lavigne – which will be released for the first time on 12" vinyl with bonus tracks previously only available online.

Avril Lavigne and the iconic Complicated look

"22 Years Later and my Complicated tank top and neck tie still fit!" with these words Avril Lavigne comments on the homage to her most iconic look. To launch the greatest hits, the Canadian star has re-worn the same white tank top with the same red tie, paired with the black tie she sported in the Complicated video. This "throwback time" moment was enough to thrill fans who flooded Lavigne's Instagram with positive comments, including designer Dilara Findikoglu who wrote, "This look literally changed my life".

The Greatest Hits Tour

"This is gonna be too much stupid fun celebrating my career with my friends and fans. Who’s coming???? What songs do you want to hear???", Lavigne wrote on Instagram announcing the Greatest Hits tour starting on May 22 in Vancouver and taking Avril to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Nashville, Chicago, and many other cities throughout North America, before concluding on September 16 at the Rogers Place in Edmonton. Lavigne will also make stops in Europe between June and July. On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the singer will arrive in Italy to perform at the Ippodromo Snai in Milan during the I-Days Milano Coca-Cola 2024. Guests for this date will be Sum 41 and Simple Plan.
