Burberry taps Anne Imhof for SS21 fashion show For the first time Riccardo Tisci has invited an artist to collaborate with him on the British brand' show creative

On September 17th Burberry presents its SS21 collection in livestreaming on Twitch, the leading platform for eSports events and competitions. The event will take place, without guests, in the beautiful setting of the British natural outdoors and will feature the German artist Anne Imhof. It is the first time at Burberry that Riccardo Tisci collaborates with an artist in the creation of a show.

As humans, we have always had a deep affinity with nature. We respected and relied on his power for our very existence, marveling at us and enjoying his extraordinary beauty. Above all recently, we have all ardently wished to reconnect with her again and with this show, I will celebrate these feelings by bringing together our community in a creative experience that will take place in the beautiful natural landscape of Great Britain.

Tisci said about the new project, but without revealing details about Imhof's role in the show. It seems, however, that the new duo formed by Anne and Riccardo, which radically combines fashion and art, will explore the tensions that are created between union and tradition; natural and artificial; the real and the unreal.

Anne Imhof for Interview

A post shared by Mark Peckmezian (@mark_peckmezian) on

Anne Imhof is known for her performances of resistance, revolutionary paintings and installations. In 2017, she represented Germany at the 57th Venice Biennale transforming the pavilion with Faust (winning the Leone d'oro for the best national participation): a group of performers dressed in streetstyle outfits moved relentlessly inside a transparent space, representing individuals in perpetual struggle with their objectification.

A fun fact? Eliza Douglas, the androgynous model popular for being one of Demna Gvasalia's favorites, is Imhof's partner and muse and is involved in all her latest works.
