Since Vladimir Putin ordered the attack on the Eastern European country, there have been many creative initiatives in support of Ukraine. During Fashion Month, brands, influencers and models found their own way to express their dissent against a senseless war. Coperni dedicated her show to Ukrainian women, Demna Gvasalia from Balenciaga put on a moving show sharing his own experience as a refugee, while other Maisons such as Chanel or Louis Vuitton announced large donations to organizations working with refugees and other victims of the conflict. The latest to decide to take concrete action is Gigi Hadid who, from her Instagram profile, announced her intention to donate the entire fee received during the last fashion weeks to Ukrainian humanitarian associations:

"Having a set Fashion Month schedule has meant that my colleagues and I often present new fashion collections during heartbreaking and traumatic times in history. We don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something. Following in the footsteps of my friend @micarganaraz, I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine. Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war- not leaders. HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE."

As Gigi herself explained, it was Mica Argañaraz who inspired her. Last week, in fact, the Argentinean model said in a story on Instagram that she wanted to donate part of her cachet from recent fashion shows to support Ukraine:

"I have to say it feels very bizarre walking fashion shows even after getting aware of that there’s a war going on in the same continent. I will be contributing part of my earnings from fashion week to help Ukrainian organisations. To my model friends and colleagues and whoever is struggling with the similar feeling, perhaps this is something we could all contribute to."

A call followed by a series of links from some of the humanitarian associations working in the Russian-occupied country, which many colleagues such as Kaia Gerber and the Hadid sisters shared.

Italian artists are also speaking out against the war, like Elodie, who decided to use the launch of her new single Bagno a mezzanotte to show her solidarity with the Ukrainian population. The singer explains this in a post where she reveals a preview of the new video:

"Bagno a mezzanotte is coming tomorrow night, at midnight! And also the video. Directed by the Morelli Brothers. The proceeds from the sale of the new single will go to Save the Children's projects in Ukraine and neighbouring countries to distribute food, clean water, hygiene kits, medicine, blankets for the winter and psychological and economic support to thousands of children fleeing war."
