Yes, it's good to follow fashion, but we want to wear slippers outside We are cold, but we don't want to give up comfort

If there’s one thing I love, it’s going out feeling as comfy as if I were in pajamas, but without actually looking like I’m in pajamas. Or at least not so much that I seem unfit for meetings, the office, or public transport. It makes me feel like I’m winning the game of who can be both smarter and more comfortable. I feel like a fox, someone who has figured out how to avoid discomfort better than anyone. So, for example, I wear soft ribbed wool pants for my very own personal casual Friday, or pair an oversized (and very soft) sweater with a long skirt, for a kind of shabby chic vibe à la impossibly rich woman who even dresses up to stay at home. The next step? Footwear. In my quest for the perfect home-not-home outfit, it’s impossible not to face the question. How can I go around the city in slippers without looking like someone who has given up?
Comfortable everyday shoes, or even outdoor slippers
Subu, the winter sandals that celebrate Japanese minimalism
A sole inspired by the tatami floors typical of Japanese homes and an aesthetic that’s both cozy and functional. Subu brings a uniquely Japanese idea of comfort and relaxation abroad and invites Milan (and all of Italy) to embrace a lifestyle that’s functional, but not necessarily uncomfortable. This is how Toshihiko Fukawa explained it to us: “We started with black and white, with functional comfort and relaxation, with the highest fabric quality, and then we decided to give room to creativity and open up to collaborations with other designers and customization.” And indeed, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to colors, patterns, and models. For those living in Milan, there’s also the chance to try them at the Rinascente pop-up. And last but not least, they make the perfect Christmas gift.
Accessory to pair with: a checked winter jacket for balance.
UGG, because if there’s a sole, it’s definitely a shoe
It sounds obvious, but trust me, it’s not. Because I’m not talking about the iconic UGG boot, but the brand-new Bea Mary Jane, also available in a technical version featuring rope and strap details. To feel like you’re in the jungle, even in the city. Not for nothing do they call it the urban jungle.
Accessory to pair with: an oversized alpaca Marbell scarf for a rock vibe worthy of Lenny Kravitz.
Giaborghini, the coolest slip-ons in the world
For the true fashion souls, those who really live and breathe it, there are Giaborghini’s Granny Slippers. Available in two different animal prints, zebra and leopard, they look as soft as a cloud but also perfect for an aperitivo in the city, where you can show off your most bored, unimpressed expression. Pair them with wide, soft trousers and a double-breasted oversized coat and they’re perfection.
Accessory to pair with: a captivating fragrance like Matsukita – Extrait de Parfum by Clive Christian, with notes of green tea, jasmine, rose, amber, musk, cedarwood, and resins.
Sandro for Clarks, the literature department slipper
We all know a Nino Sarratore type of man who wears nothing but Clarks Desert Boots. This winter, that man is you. Or maybe not. The point is: spend the season with comfortable shoes on your feet. In our opinion, the real highlight of the Sandro x Clarks collaboration is this: the Desert Boot in shearling. Beautiful like a shoe, cozy like a slipper.
Accessory to pair with: a star-, planet- or moon-shaped charm by DoDo, just in time for the holidays.
Keen, the Hypowser Wrap will take you climbing (or to your armchair)
For sporty people who love technical pieces, spending every weekend outdoors, getting their face burnt by sun and wind, but who also love staying cozy with warm feet. Furry, technical sole, bold pattern. What else?
Accessory to pair with: a red lipstick, because contrasts are the spice of life.
