The Headland Hotel in Newquay, Cornwall, offers it to us, which has opened an interesting job position, just in time for Halloween: the professional witch.

You got it right. The historic Victorian building overlooking the cliff, known for being the set of the Hotel Excelsior in the movie The Witches (1990), look for a Witchy Welcome Host. What are the selection criteria? It's too soon said. The perfect witch must have theatrical skills, not to mention acting skills, and must be able to entertain adults and children on the occasion of the Halloween afternoon tea held inside the structure, in the RenMor restaurant. The hotel will provide a mask and cape, the black dress is the responsibility of the candidate.
The contract is not annual. This is a period that runs from mid-October until just after Halloween. The salary, unfortunately, is not indicated in the announcement. A seasonal job, therefore, for those who feel they can embody a figure halfway between the antagonist of a Disney fairytale and the woman-monster from the cartoons of our childhood.

Why do we like it so much?
That the news went around the British media first and then the international media, in reality, seems a bit of a symptom to us. A symptom of dissatisfaction, of discontent, of burnout, of the search for a way out of a life that, all too often, we don't really like and in which we feel trapped. In this context, therefore, the work of an evil witch at the hotel sounds perfect, because it is light, because it is fun and above all because it does not last long. Because it allows us to express ourselves and also because, let's be clear, it's a job of relatively low responsibility, unless it scares a child to death.
