10 beauty resolutions to adopt in September You don't need to follow all of them, the important thing is to start with something

Many people see September as an almost more important fresh start than January and, like any new beginning, it inevitably comes with a few resolutions to start over with. Whether it’s decluttering your wardrobe, adopting a new lifestyle, picking up a new hobby or simply changing a few beauty habits, the new season brings with it that urge to get things back in order and start fresh. If you don’t know where to begin, here are 10 resolutions to take inspiration from.
10 beauty resolutions to adopt in September
Stop going to bed with makeup on
We already know this, but clearly we still need to remind ourselves every now and then: removing your makeup is essential. Even when we get home late, even when we’re tired and the bed feels like the only place we want to go as soon as we close the door. Taking off your makeup before going to bed should be one of those automatic things, like brushing your teeth. And yet, for many of us, it’s still a challenge. So why not start with the basics?
Keep using sunscreen every day
In summer, we all become a little obsessed with applying sunscreen: it’s always in our bags, we reapply it, we check the SPF. Then we go back home, get back into our usual routine and, as summer comes to an end, many of us put the habit away in a drawer, literally. Too bad sunscreen isn’t a seasonal habit. UV rays are still around throughout the rest of the year, which is exactly why SPF should become an automatic step in our daily skincare routine, regardless of the month on the calendar or the temperature outside.
Turn body hydration into an evening ritual
Body moisturizer is one of those products that many of us buy and then completely forget to use. September could be the perfect opportunity to change our approach and turn it into a little pre-bedtime ritual, perhaps applying it with a lymphatic massage. By making it a daily habit, your future self will thank you when it’s time to show your legs again next year.
Find a signature scent
How satisfying is it to be recognized just by your scent? A little impossible if you’re used to wearing a different one every day. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but having a fragrance that really represents you and that you won’t get tired of after a week of wearing it is undeniably chic. So why not take some time to find your own signature scent?
Stop saving your best beauty products for a special occasion
The lipstick we save for an important night out, the expensive perfume we only wear when we go out in the evening, that cream we don’t want to finish too quickly. At some point, we should simply start using the things we like. After all, we bought them for a reason.
Shop beauty more mindfully
September could be the right time to stop buying products just because we’ve seen them a thousand times in some sponsored video. Before adding yet another product to our cart, let’s simply ask ourselves: do I really need it? Will I actually use it? The idea is to slowly build a beauty wardrobe that makes sense for us, filled with products we know we’ll actually use.
Clean your makeup brushes and tools more often
Washing our brushes is one of those things most of us probably keep putting off. And yet, if we use them practically every day, we should also remember to clean them with some regularity. Now, I’m not saying every day, but setting aside one day a week to give them a proper clean could be a good place to start.
Finish one product before buying another
Such a simple rule, yet surprisingly difficult to follow. And still, it should almost come naturally to us to have this mindset: finish what we already have before opening or buying a similar product.
Finally give your hair a routine
Shampoo, conditioner and, if we’re feeling particularly luxurious, a hair mask. For many, that’s the routine dedicated to their hair, but sometimes it needs a little more. A treatment, an oil or simply some extra care can make a difference, especially when we’re constantly complaining about our hair being too dry or stressed.
Be more consistent
You don’t need an endless skincare routine or to change your products every week. Sometimes, all you need is to be more consistent with what you already have. A simple routine, followed regularly, is worth far more than ten steps you stick to for three days and then forget about.
