This season’s runway offerings are a patchwork of silhouettes and a display of elegant magnetism; the kind that might even convince you to invest in a lifetime designer bag. From delicate raffia bags and embellishments that nod to a sophistication borrowed from grand bygone eras, a longing for the past and combination for the future has swept through the spring summer 2025 handbag trends

Raffia bags

The mental shift from winter to spring often begins with raffia bags. This fashion trend was top of mind at JW Anderson, Ulla Johnson, Hereu, Akris, and Marni, who have elegantly reimagined this classic accessory to suit urban lifestyles. Among the most desired raffia bags this season is Ulla Johnson's creation, a small striped bag featuring an adjustable shoulder strap, gold chain accents, and a convenient zip-top closure. Meanwhile, Saint Laurent offers an exquisite small model adorned with a brown leather center strap and a YSL logo closure in gold, and Marina Raphael proposes the Sailor design crafted with raffia and white napa leather body. Hereu presents a sophisticated raffia basket tote with a knotted calf leather handle and a small pleated crossbody/handbag crafted from natural raffia, complete with braided calf leather handles, made by Spanish artisans.

East-west bags

The versatile east-west bag is transcending the fall/winter season, maintaining its influence well into spring, and becoming a standout piece among handbag trends. Alaïa’s proposal to elevate any wardrobe comes with Le Teckel, now for its second year in a row. This time, the small shoulder bag with its sleek, elongated silhouette is available in an array of colors, including turquoise, red, nude, blue, sky blue, white, and black. But Alaïa isn't the only one embracing this trend. Other luxury brands are offering their own interpretations of this coveted runway style. Bottega Veneta presents the east-west Arco Tote, Jil Sander showcases the Cannolo bag, and Prada offers the Bonnie medium leather handbag in dark brown, black, sage, pewter, cameo, palisander, air force blue, and denim.

Flowers iteration

Florals… For Spring? Groundbreaking. But when it comes to bags in 2025, that doesn’t necessarily mean creations are anything less but elevated territory. Floral motifs with prints, appliqués, and embellishments come into the spring equation through the spring/summer 2025 collections of Carolina Herrera, Alexander McQueen, Alameda Turquesa, Heimat Atlantica, and Magda Butrym. You can expect to fall in love with the large satin flower that adorns Magda Butrym’s Devana bag, a tote bag made from large netted crochet using natural fibers; and also with the Brigitte handbag that was designed with a floral leather embellishment on the handle for added charm. As for Alameda Turquesa, the Orchid crochet bag is a celebration of a creation that encapsulates this season like no other.

Silver power

Silver bags have been a defining hallmark of Marina Raphael’s aesthetic since the brand’s foundation in 2018. This season, the brand’s interpretation continues to captivate with its signature blend of playful yet bold elegance. Marina Raphael unveils an evolution of her iconic designs, merging intricate craftsmanship with a refined commitment to the brand’s core values. Standout pieces are the Baby Riviera in silver and mirror silver leather, along with the micro Stella adorned in dazzling silver crystals. There’s no denying that these designs make a compelling case for a stylish addition to your wardrobe. Elsewhere, the silver power style was proposed at Chanel, Fendi, Coperni, Proenza Schouler, and The Attico, all included in the latest spring/summer drops.

Slouchy style

Loewe’s Squeeze bag is proof that the days of slouchy style aren’t over. In fact, it seems this trend isn't fading anytime soon, because Fendy aimed high with the deconstructed silhouette of its Peekaboo soft medium creation, and Chanel has struck the ideal balance of slouchiness with its new 25 bag, a quilted, trapeze-shaped design featuring a chain handle. For everyday budget-friendly alternatives, Massimo Dutti, Madewell, Bimba y Lola, and Mango.
