Aethos Monterosa reopens for the winter With a renewed design and a prestigious Michelin key

Aethos Monterosa, the boutique resort set in the unspoiled scenery of Val d’Ayas, reopened its doors in December 2025 to kick off the winter season. After months of significant renovation, the hotel now welcomes guests in reimagined spaces designed to further enhance the brand’s philosophy: authentic Alpine luxury and a deep connection with the surrounding nature.

Aethos Monterosa Reopens for Winter

The most significant transformation involved the construction of a second wing, expanding the resort’s offer with 23 new suites nestled in the mountainous landscape. The design of the new rooms, crafted by Studio Astet from Barcelona, draws inspiration from the contrasting colors and textures of the natural environment surrounding Aethos Monterosa. With this expansion, the resort now features a total of 53 rooms, including new family and deluxe suites, overlooking the forest, the internal garden, and the mountains.

The renovation was designed to honor and blend even more seamlessly with the surrounding landscape of lush forests and snow-capped peaks, transforming the resort into a welcoming and modern retreat, perfect year-round. In this spirit, the outdoor garden has also been redesigned, now featuring a new **panoramic outdoor pool** to offer guests moments of total relaxation immersed in nature, with views of the Monte Rosa peaks. This new space complements the existing Alpine spa, equipped with a wood sauna, Turkish bath, hot tubs, and a 25-meter indoor pool.

1568 Japanese Steakhouse and The Doping Are Back

On the gastronomic front, one of the resort’s most iconic restaurants, the 1568 Japanese Steakhouse, continues to serve bold Japanese fusion flavors in a mountain setting, enriching the culinary offer of the Italian Alps. The resort’s vibrant hub, The Doping, has reopened as an après-ski lounge and gathering point for guests and visitors. From December to March, every Saturday hosts La Soirée, a dedicated après-ski experience featuring music, mixology, and gastronomy, with live sessions, performances, and surprises reflecting Aethos’ distinctive style and engaging the local community.

A New Milestone: the Michelin Key

Crowning this important moment for the resort, Aethos Monterosa has recently been awarded a Michelin Key, a prestigious recognition introduced by the Michelin Guide to highlight the world’s most extraordinary hotels for hospitality, character, and uniqueness. This accolade is of great significance for the resort and the entire group, granted to properties that stand out for impeccable service, exceptional design, quality of experience, and ability to create memorable moments. The milestone was previously achieved in Europe by Aethos Ericeira, the group’s resort in Portugal, which earned its first Michelin Key in early 2025.
