Nike presents its first-ever maternity collection Available from September 17th

In recent years, Nike is focusing on a new goal: to make women's sport as inclusive as possible, creating a range of products that are both comfortable and high-performance. The winning intuition? Listening to the suggestions of female athletes and satisfying their actual needs. This is how Nike Plus SizeSwoosh Fly for basketball, Nike Victory Swim and, now, Nike (M), the first maternity activewear collection ever made by the brand, were born.

To give birth to a child is probably one of the events that most changes the human body. The impact of this radical transformation involves every mother-to-be, even sportswomen, who in addition have to deal with the negative effects on their competitive performance. The sportswear giant has worked closely with 30 professional and amateur athletes, such as Alex Morgan, owner of the U.S. women's national soccer team, and golfer Michelle Wie West, using all the experience, scientific expertise and innovative techniques it has to create the most appropriate garments to wear during pregnancy and after childbirth.

We found women were already choosing Nike for maternity because it provided the performance that they needed. - Says Carmen Zolman, senior design director at Nike - The more we listened to expecting mothers and postpartum mothers, the more we learned, reworked and innovated through inclusive design.

Nike (M) is an essential four-piece capsule, consisting of a double-sided pullover; a bra which supports without being clumsy; a super-elastic tank top; Nike One Tight leggings that can cover your bump or fold down underneath it.  The entire selection is declined in black, gray, pink with Swoosh.

When I was competing, it was look good, feel good, perform well. - Athletics star Perri Edwards said - It gives you that confidence when you know your clothes fit and you look good - And, about the new Nike collection she added - It’s been a godsend. Before, I was trying to fit into my old leggings and they were very tight and uncomfortable. These are snug but not tight, there’s no zips, no drawstring; they slide on, and they embrace and mould [to] your shape. And I love the fact that I can wear the clothes and you’re not going to see my bump popping out because they don’t fit me.

The Nike (M) collection will be available from September 17th on nike.com.
