Repair season: body skincare to rebalance skin after summer All the steps for a complete body skincare routine

If you think about it, summer is the time of year when body skin receives the most attention. We protect it with sunscreen, refresh it with after-sun products, exfoliate it to make our tan more even and hydrate it with oils and creams before going out in the evening. Then September arrives and, suddenly, we go back to focusing almost exclusively on our face, occasionally checking in on our body, applying some cream after a hot autumn shower if we happen to remember. Yet after months spent dealing with UV rays, heat, salt water, chlorine and sweat, maybe our body skin deserves a little extra attention too.
Repair season: the body skincare routine to rebalance your skin after summer
First step: cleansing
One step that is often overlooked in body skincare is cleansing. After summer, however, choosing the right cleanser becomes particularly important. Using formulas that are too harsh can actually make the skin even drier and more sensitive than it already is. The advice is to choose gentle cleansers that remove what they need to remove without disrupting the skin barrier. It is therefore better to opt for creamy textures, cleansing oils or mousses with formulas rich in hydrating ingredients.
Second step: exfoliation
Before thinking about nourishing and hydrating the skin, the first step of repair season is giving it a little reset. This is where exfoliation comes in, not only to remove dead skin cells but also to prepare the skin to better absorb the treatments that follow. Alongside classic physical and chemical body scrubs, an interesting alternative is black soap, a Moroccan product with a soft, buttery texture, usually used together with the exfoliating kessa glove. Of course, do not scrub your skin raw: after summer, it has already been through enough.
Third step: hydration
Once the reset is complete, the next step is to restore a generous dose of hydration to the skin, helping to soothe and rebalance it. After months spent looking for lightweight and refreshing textures, now is the time to return to richer body creams and butters that can help the skin retain water more effectively. Obviously, the best moment to apply them is right after the shower, when the skin is still slightly damp. Ingredients to look for include urea, panthenol, ceramides, shea butter and squalane.
Fourth step: targeted treatments
Once hydration and balance have been restored, you can focus on those small issues that we tend to ignore during winter. The secret is to start before they become a visible problem, turning them into a daily habit. This means using more targeted chemical acids on rougher areas, such as heels, elbows or knees, or introducing body creams and serums with vitamin C to help even out any sun spots that appeared after exposure. In short, the final step is the most personal one: the one each of us knows we need to dedicate to our own skin.
