Starting from March 26, the last 6 episodes of the fifth season of Mare Fuori will air on RaiPlay. A true Italian cultural phenomenon, the series continues to achieve extraordinary success with audiences. On the eve of this event, we had the chance to (re)chat with Clotilde Esposito, the actress who plays Silvia Scacco. She shared her thoughts on her relationship with the series, her character, the future, and the present. And of course, we couldn’t forget about skincare and make-up. Here’s what she told us.
Interview with Clotilde Esposito on the fifth season of Mare Fuori
How has your life changed with Mare Fuori?
Mare Fuori has been a journey lasting five years, and inevitably, during this time, it hasn’t just changed my life—it has enriched it, both artistically and personally. I have grown, and the project has grown with me. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a character who evolves and changes, allowing me to explore her deeply. Working on the set of a collective series teaches you what teamwork really means—it teaches you to listen to and respect others. I am grateful to have been a part of it; I wouldn’t be who I am today if Mare Fuori hadn’t crossed my path.
How have you seen Mare Fuori change while working on it?
Over the years, we’ve had different directors, which naturally brought changes to the series. It has been exciting to approach new creative visions each time. The cast has also evolved, following the characters’ stories. As for my work on my character, each year feels like adding another piece to the puzzle. You see your character grow and change, and as a result, the series takes on a new shape. However, what remains unchanged is the emotional intensity that defines Mare Fuori.
What can we expect from the new season?
Plenty of twists and turns, for better or worse—dramatic and challenging moments, but also beautiful and genuine interactions between characters as they grow together and share passions. And why not? New romances, of all kinds. Perhaps it’s better to call them connections.
Silvia Scacco has also changed over the years. She’s a character people can empathize with, but her journey hasn’t been easy. Will she grow? What do you think about her?
Her journey has certainly been tough—she has faced many difficulties but always with charisma and energy. In the fifth season, she will encounter even greater challenges, moments of struggle and oppression. But I like to think that all of this will lead to her personal growth and a deeper self-awareness, helping her understand who she is, what she wants, and what she wants to do with her future. I care about her, and I hope she finds her path—one that can also inspire the audience watching her.
What are your passions? How do you recharge when you're not on set?
My work is my greatest passion—I’m truly lucky. When I’m not on set, I love taking care of myself, going for walks, traveling, being by the sea, reconnecting with nature, spending time with my loved ones, and most importantly, spending time alone. It’s precious to me and recharges me immensely.
Are there any make-up or skincare products you can’t live without? Any must-haves in your routine?
Skincare is an essential part of my routine. I can’t imagine going to bed without removing my makeup or following all the necessary steps. A good micellar water is an absolute must for me, along with a high-quality cleanser. My make-up essentials are eyebrow gel—because I always need to keep them in place—and a lip balm to keep my lips hydrated and glossy. Oh, and I can never forget sunscreen—it’s my best friend!
What does the future hold for you? Can you give us any hints about new projects?
I don’t like the word "future"—I prefer to focus on the present. If I work hard in the present, I inevitably see results. Right now, I’m involved in several projects that excite me and push me to give my best. But for now, it’s top secret!
