Going back to the office puts a lot of things to the test: between air conditioning, inevitable stress and eight hours in front of a screen, making it to 6 p.m. with dehydrated but shiny skin, some inflammation or a sudden breakout, and completely melted make-up is not exactly where we want to end up. But all it takes is a few carefully chosen products to keep in your desk drawer or in the make-up bag in your purse and pull out when needed to avoid all of this. Here are the essentials to add to your office beauty kit, ready to save the day.
The office beauty kit to survive the day
Lip balm
The must-have we all inevitably forget or lose and, of course, never have when we actually need it: lip balm. Buy it strictly in multipacks and scatter them everywhere: desk drawer, bag, laptop case, backpack. Even better if it’s tinted, so it can also add a little bit of color to a face washed out by the brightness of the screen.
Face mist
Air conditioning is the ultimate punishment for your face: if your skin looks radiant and plump from your skincare in the morning, just give it a little time and by the first bathroom break, you’ll find yourself with a face that looks completely wrecked. That’s why having a face mist in your kit can be a true lifesaver when it comes to refreshing your skin throughout the day, especially because it’s so convenient and effective: just a few spritzes and you’re alive again.
Concealer
I’m sure you have those essential make-up products that you carry with you practically everywhere: your lip combo, blush, maybe even mascara. But if there’s one thing that should be essential for everyone, it’s concealer. Random breakout? Concealer. Dark circles making a comeback despite your best efforts to hide them in the morning? Concealer. Various redness? Once again, concealer. In short, it won’t solve all of life’s problems, but it comes pretty close.
Powder
Powder is another one of those essential products you should always have with you. Inevitably, after eight hours away from home, the T-zone starts looking shinier than usual. And sure, we love the glass skin effect, but sometimes it’s a little too much. A quick sweep over the right areas and you’re done.
Fragrance
After eight hours in the office, we all need a little refresh to feel more put-together, fresh and, well, a little more presentable. There’s no need to overexplain it: sometimes we simply need to smell good. Having a travel size of your favorite fragrance or a hair mist to spritz through your hair before heading out is essential for that little end-of-day reset.
Hand cream
I don’t know about you, but the scent of hand creams has an almost therapeutic effect on me. Maybe it’s the fragrance, maybe it’s simply the gesture, but those five seconds spent massaging hand cream into your hands somehow manage to relax you. And let’s just say that, in this environment, we definitely need it.
