What is the future of Off-White Beauty?
Interparfums makes its move
December 5th, 2024
On October 1, a piece of news shook the world of fashion and streetwear. LVMH had sold Off-White, a brand founded in 2012 in Milan by Virgil Abloh, to the private equity firm Bluestar Alliance. Since then, speculation has been rife about the future of Off-White Beauty, the makeup line (and brand) launched in 2022. Now, fragrance company Interparfums has made its move, adding Off-White to its portfolio of licensed partners.
The Current State of Off-White Beauty
Currently, the Off-White Beauty Paperwork line is described on its website as "designed to unlock human potential" and offers a complete toolkit for individual expression, including the Solution fragrances, Imprint face and body pigment sticks, and Color Matter nail polishes. Regarded as the realization of Virgil Abloh's vision, who passed away in 2021, the collection is considered genderless, inclusive, and entirely customizable—an ideal space where traditional instructions vanish in favor of total freedom of expression. In 2023, renowned makeup artist and founder of her eponymous brand, Isamaya Ffrench, was named curator of the collection.
Interparfums Steps In
Now Interparfums, already the fragrance license holder for Van Cleef & Arpels and Montblanc, has secured the rights for Off-White fragrances and cosmetics and will take over as the licensing partner on January 1, 2026, once the current license held by New Guards Group expires on December 31, 2025. "This is a tremendous opportunity for us, considering the brand's unique positioning and the impressive creative legacy of Virgil Abloh," said Jean Madar, chairman and CEO of Interparfums, in a statement.
