Apple Martin, the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin The girl destined to become a Chanel girl caused a stir at the Maison fashion show

Young Nepo babies grow up. After Lily-Rose Depp, Kaia Gerber and Deva Cassel here comes another daughter of celebrity parents entering the fashion world. This time it is the turn of Apple Martin, the 18-year-old eldest daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who made her social debut last Tuesday by attending the Chanel spring/summer 2023 haute couture show at the Grand Palais Éphémerè in Paris. Impossible not to notice the girl, seated in the front row next to Lucy Boynton, Sadie Sink and Angèle, not only for her chic outfit but, more importantly, for her great resemblance to the Goop founder. Same lanky figure, same long blond hair worn loose over her shoulders, and apparently the same sense of style as well. Apple, who until now had always seemed reluctant to appear in public, allowing only a few snaps posted on Mom Gwyneth's Instagram, chose for her first official outing a set (all Chanel, of course) consisting of a matching black-and-white tweed minidress and cardigan, platform loafers, worn without socks, and a shoulder bag. Giving a twist to the look is the make-up done by Valeria Ferreira: flawless skin, cheekbones sculpted by blush, marked stroke of eyeliner to highlight the eyes and the sky-blue color of the iris, lips made soft by a peach lipstick, most likely Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Number 60

For a moment it seemed to many to see again the Gwyneth who dominated the red carpets in the 1990s and early 2000s, with her wasp style and innate ability to always look flawless whether wearing a Gucci velvet suit or a Chanel gown. And the French fashion house does indeed seem to be yet another trait to unite mother and daughter. At least according to Derek Blasberg, who documented Apple's evening at PFW via social and revealed that "Karl Lagerfeld met Apple Martin when she was 4 years old (although Paltrow later specified that she was actually only 1 when it happened) and declared that one day she’d be a Chanel girl. It happened today!". In short, Apple was predestined. Now it is up to her to prove, if she is willing and able, that she is much more than a Nepo baby, a Cinderella who, thanks to the Blue Fairy or, rather, famous parents, sits in the Chanel front row, as many haters accuse her of. Only time will tell if the 18-year-old will be able to overturn the negative comments or will prefer to return to the shadows, as far away as possible from the limelight as she has been doing until now, living her teenage years without the looming of fame.
