Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega win over audiences and becomes the most viewed series in the first week of streaming on Netflix

Everyone loves Wednesday: the series breaks Stranger Things views record Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega win over audiences and becomes the most viewed series in the first week of streaming on Netflix

"Being an outsider has never been so IN as Wednesday, the supernatural-infused mystery tracing Wednesday Addams' years at Nevermore Academy, debuted at #1 with a record 341.2 million hours viewed." Said Netflix in announcing that Tim Burton's latest project is a hit not only with critics but also with audiences. According to data released more than 50 million households watched 341.23 million hours of the series starring Jenna Ortega during its first week of availability, from its debut on Wednesday, Nov. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 27, making it the most-watched English-language TV series on Netflix during its first week of streaming. The numbers are so great that they beat Stranger Things, which with its fourth season in the days from May 30 to June 5 had totaled 335.01 million hours viewed, a record that until now no one had been able to match even Ryan Murphy's Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which stopped at "only" 299.840 million hours of views. While the all-time record and not just in the English language continues to be held by Squid Game, with 571.8 million hours of streaming.

Creepy and bizarre, mysterious and spooky, Wednesday has won everyone over, not only because of the script, the cast or the very apt choice of Jenna Ortega for the role, but also because of the work of hair and make-up designer and costume designer Tara McDonald and Colleen Atwood, who have made everyone want to make up and dress like Morticia and Gomez's daughter. Now, everyone who is loving the series is quivering to see new episodes and hoping that Netflix, considering its success so far, will renew the show. The announcement has not yet been made, but Wednesday 2 seems almost certain. Should the project come to fruition, showrunners Miles Miller and Al Gough have anticipated that they plan to introduce many more members of the Addams family and give more space to those we have already met such as Uncle Fester, Mano, and Pugsley. More space may also be devoted to Morticia Addams and the mother-daughter relationship with Wednesday. Hopefully, Netflix will soon announce the arrival of new episodes that will delight all of us outcasts.
