The Manual Lift RT Method is the new pre-makeup routine you need to know about Rosalia Tuttobene's customized treatment focuses on contours, tension, and texture to create a more relaxed face that's ready for makeup

We’ve spent years sculpting our faces with contouring, gua sha, facial rollers, microcurrents and pretty much anything promising one extra cheekbone. The Manual Lift RT Method takes a different route and starts with a much simpler question. What if, before applying makeup, we simply prepared the face properly? Developed by Rosalia Tuttobene, a makeup artist, facialist and specialist in manual facial sculpting, the protocol works on the appearance of facial contours, tension and puffiness, leaving the face looking fresher, more relaxed and more defined. Not to change it, but to get it ready for makeup in the best possible condition.

How the Manual Lift RT Method works

The method stems from Tuttobene’s training, which combines visagism, skincare and Eastern-inspired facial techniques, alongside training in Kobido. Each treatment begins with a facial assessment to observe the morphology of the face, any asymmetries, texture, dehydration and sensitivity, allowing the rhythm, intensity and areas of focus to be adjusted accordingly. The treatment starts from the décolleté, shoulders and neck before moving up to the face, with targeted manual techniques. Serum, mask, eye patches, lip treatment and a final layer of hydration with SPF follow. The goal? A natural facial lift, without changing the features but making them look more relaxed and defined.

The face before makeup

This is where Tuttobene’s background in visagism comes into play. The face is not treated as just another surface, but as something that will also have to support a makeup look. An eye area that looks more relaxed can provide a more even base for concealer, while smoother-looking skin can make makeup application easier. The full treatment lasts 50–60 minutes, while the 15–20-minute express version is designed for backstage, shoots and fashion shows.

The comeback of hands-on beauty

In a beauty cabinet increasingly packed with beauty devices, LED tools, microcurrents and gadgets promising to do practically everything, the Manual Lift RT Method takes the opposite approach. No technology to charge, no gadget manual to decipher before getting started. The treatment is purely aesthetic, its immediate effect is temporary, and the response varies from face to face. With regular sessions, the look achieved can be maintained for longer. For Tuttobene, though, the point is something else. Not correcting the face, but preparing it. For makeup, for a photograph, for a night out, or simply to look a little more rested than we actually are.
