Tick-tock tick-tock, summer is finally here and we are ready for the summer holidays. There are those who prefer the classic beach holiday, those who prefer a nice trip to the city or those who want to escape the summer heat by choosing the mountains as their destination. Many have already planned their summer and organised everything from June to September, but we know that there are always some stragglers who plan everything at the last minute and are undecided about their holiday, where to go and what to do. Why not plan your holiday according to the stars? For each star sign, we have recommended an Italian destination with some experiences to try. Let us take a look at all 12 zodiac signs:

Aries - Sicily: Aeolian Islands

Beautiful Sicily is the largest region in Italy, sunny, with consistently high temperatures, perfect as a destination for the whole summer. It has all the ingredients to be your Aries holiday destination. You do not like the heat so much, so opt for September instead. The Aeolian archipelago consists of 7 islands and is a true natural paradise with rugged coasts, bays and beaches that range from white (pumice) to black (lava rock).

Experience: Ferries depart daily from the island of Lipari to all the islands. In one week you can do a perfect '7 islands for 7 days' tour, use Lipari as a starting point for your holiday. The island of Vulcano will awaken your sense of adventure. You can hike to the crater and walk through the sulphur smell, or take a dip in the island's natural sulphur thermal baths. The Baia delle Acque calde (Bay of Hot Waters) is perfect, while at the Pozza Termale (Thermal Baths) you'll find mud baths with beneficial properties for the skin and body.

Taurus - Umbria: Castelluccio di Norcia

Umbria is a region characterised by its green hills and historic mediaeval villages. A destination you will fully appreciate for its historical, cultural and natural heritage Taurus. Castelluccio di Norcia is the ideal destination for your holiday. Every year it offers a beautiful spectacle of colour with its flowering, characterised mainly by red, yellow, violet and light blue, mixed with the green of the fields, so that you will feel as if you are admiring a painting.

Experience: The flowering season starts from May to mid-July, book for the last days of June and the first days of July, if you are in a company, take a trip by car so that you can manage your time well (and we know that the dear Toro are a bit slow), without any constraints. To enjoy the view of the valley at its best, you can go for a walk or, if you like it more dynamic, go cycling or horse riding. Arm yourself with a camera to capture every angle. There are osterias and agriturismi nearby where you can take a siesta and enjoy good Umbrian cuisine.

Gemini - Emilia-Romagna: Riviera Romagnola

Emilia-Romagna is known as the heart of the Po Valley, characterised by villages and paths, but for the summer, if you are a Gemini, you are ready to take a trip to enjoy the Riviera Romagnola. The Riviera Romagnola overlooks the coast of the upper Adriatic and is characterised by a long series of seaside resorts that begin at the Lidi Ravennati and end at Gabicce Mare. This is also a great place to get away from it all for a few days from mid-June to mid-August.

Experience: During the day, the beaches are crowded with bathers and equipped with bathing establishments, while in the evening, the areas of Milano Marittima, Cervia, Cesenatico, Rimini and Riccione charge up the nightlife with open-air discos or beach parties where fun is guaranteed for you twins (you are spoilt for choice). After an exciting night out, you can book an umbrella on the beach the next day and recharge your batteries with a good read. N.B. Alternatively, you can spend a whole day at Mirabilandia to get your adrenaline pumping.

Cancer - Liguria: Cinque Terre

Liguria is the region that perfectly embodies your Cancer nature, starting with its crescent-shaped area. In summer, there are many places to visit on the Ligurian Riviera between the Riviera di Ponente and Levante, characterised by coastal villages that convey a romantic atmosphere. The best choice you can make is the Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre are ancient coastal villages, mainly inhabited by fishermen, and are a Unesco World Heritage Site. Their beauty will take your breath away. If you do not particularly like crowds, you should leave out the period in the first half of August.

Experience: A 4-5 day holiday is ideal for touring the Cinque Terre, then you can visit them all. The villages are connected by a network of paths, the most famous being the Sentiero Azzurro, alternatively you can go directly by train. You want to be intimate and the sea is calm? Take advantage of a canoe trip in the crystal clear waters of this area. If you are planning an excursion for two, visit Monterosso or Riomaggiore and enjoy a romantic aperitif accompanied by bruschetta and a good local wine.

Leo - Campania: Amalfi Coast

Campania is the region in the south on the west coast of Italy known for its spectacular coastline and historical ruins. ​is located in the southern area on the west coast of Italy. It is known for the most beautiful beaches in Italy and can only be the best destination for you, Leone. The nature of this area is wild and characterised by high cliffs that drop steeply into the turquoise and cobalt blue sea. The Amalfi Coast is recognised by Unesco and internationally known especially for the towns of Amalfi and Positano, surrounded by the scent of lemons.

Experience: The Amalfi Coast is famous for boat tours that immerse you in the beautiful natural seascape, but choose a tour that takes you to the Emerald Grotto, you will be speechless. For alternative days on the beach and in the sea visit Villa Cimbrone, a photo on the infinity terrace overlooking the sea is a must. Let yourself drift in the streets of Positano, where you can take the opportunity to shop. There are shops ranging from local handicrafts to luxury boutiques, treat yourself.

Virgo - Tuscany: Val D'Orcia

Tuscany is in central Italy, a diverse region that has a rich artistic/cultural and natural heritage (across mountains, hills and sea). It is famous for its pearl, Florence, but there is so much more and you, Virgin, can use a week's holiday to dedicate to the Val D'Orcia. The Val D'Orcia is rich in castles, hills full of vineyards, cypress and olive groves, wheat fields and villages. The valley takes its name from the Orcia River that flows through it. It is a huge protected park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, the landscapes here inspired many Renaissance painters.

Experience: This destination is ideal in the summer season for a star sign like you, the Virgo, who likes to relax in peaceful oases. Book your holiday in a farmhouse where tranquillity reigns and you can cool off on hot days with a dip in the pool. Visit Pienza and Montepulciano during the day or in the evening and take the opportunity for a good meal accompanied by a bottle of red wine to take home as a souvenir! The Via dell'Amore is a perfect place for a romantic stroll. Do not miss a detour to the rows of cypresses where you can take some photos.

Libra - Apulia: Itria Valley

Puglia is the heel of the Italian boot, one of the regions in the south of Italy. It is a fascinating region with its natural parks, beaches and unspoilt landscapes. It is best known for its hilly villages, dotted with white plaster, and this is where you should spend your Libra holiday. The Itria Valley is the heart of Puglia, also known as the Valley of the Trulli between the provinces of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto. Every corner of this area is Instagram-worthy for a summer Libra like you.

Experience: There are many towns in this area, but a trip to Alberobello, the capital of the Trulli, is not to be missed. Here you can spend a day among these cone-shaped buildings, buy souvenirs and handicrafts and why not spend the night in a trullo. A trip to the white town of Ostuni is a must. A little outside this valley, which deserves a day stop, is Polignano a Mare, where you can breathe in the romantic air that sets you apart.

Scorpio - Veneto: Cortina d'Ampezzo

Veneto is the Italian region that stretches from the Dolomites to the Adriatic Sea, between sea, mountains and lakes. It is a versatile region, suitable both for those who like to holiday in seaside resorts and for those who, like you, Scorpio, like to spend time in cool mountain huts. Between July and August, the Dolomites are ideal for cooling off from the scorching heat in other areas. In the province of Belluno is the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, perfect for an outdoor holiday and surrounded by mountains that are considered the Queen of the Dolomites.

Experience: many hikes in the natural tranquillity of the mountains in this area, and for the more sporty, via ferratas in the Tofane. Do you want to go to Veneto without seeing the Three Peaks? No way, start your excursion in Misurina and drive up to the Auronzo refuge, a piece of strudel is a must! After a day of activities, you can opt for a leisurely stroll along Corso Italia, the main street of Cortina, the centre of worldliness par excellence.

Sagittarius - Marche: Conero

Le Marche is an Italian region in the east of Italy that overlooks the Adriatic Sea and is home to the port city of Ancona. In this region, known for its mediaeval towns, rises the famous Monte del Conero, characterised by a wild nature that a shooter will appreciate in all its facets. The Conero is an Umbrian-Marchigian relief south of the region's capital, where land and sea meet. On the Riviera del Conero there are beautiful beaches, mainly made of white stones.

Experience: Sirolo and Numana are the centres not to be missed on a tour of this area. Shuttle buses run every hour to the beaches, but if you are braver, you can also try walking down or up the mountain. Spend a day at Spiaggia di San Michele beach in Sirolo and, sea permitting, hire a kayak for half a day. An hour away is Due sorelle beach, arm yourself with shoes if you want to take a walk along the sea. Visit the famous town of Recanati, the birthplace of Leopardi, where you can visit the Colle dell'infinito.

Capricorn - Basilicata: Matera

Basilicata is located in southern Italy, its territory is mainly mountainous and hilly is a region that boasts thermal baths, natural parks, historical and cultural sites. Capricorn dedicates a few days in September to the city of Matera. Matera is known as the city of stones, with ancient dwellings carved into the limestone mountains from prehistoric times that have been restored and converted into accommodation over time. This city is recognised as a Unesco cultural heritage site.

Experience: Do not miss the two districts of Sasso Barisano and Caveoso, which are the oldest part of the city. Between the stairs and streets, you can spend a day discovering the caves and churches, with the imposing cathedral in the centre of the city standing out. An absolute must at the end of the excursion is a look at the Belvedere di Murgia Timone, the most impressive viewpoint in the Matera area.

Aquarius - Trentino Alto Adige: Braies Lake

Trentino-Alto Adige is the region in northern Italy bordering Switzerland and Austria. The region was named after the river Adige and is characterised by valleys, lakes, streams and mountains. A perfect retreat for your summer holiday in Aquarium is the beautiful Braies Lake. The Braies Lake is a natural alpine lake in the Braies Valley and offers a landscape that you can enjoy in winter as well as in summer. With its emerald green colour in the warm season, it is a true pearl of the Dolomites.

Experience: Rent a wooden rowing boat and immerse yourself in the characteristic landscape of this lake by sailing from the wooden lake dwelling to the opposite shore of the lake. Alternatively, you can reach the other shore via a footpath that leads around the entire lake. Not far from the lake is a path on the plateau of the Prato Piazza in the Fanes-Sanes-Braies Nature Park. Pisces - Lombardy: Lake Garda

Lombardy is a region in northern Italy that is best known for the fashion and financial metropolis of Milan. In summer, it turns into a perfect paradise thanks to the lakes in its territory, perfect places for you fish dreamers. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy and lies on the border between the regions of Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino. It is characterised by overhanging villages and is wedged between plains and mountains at the foot of Monte Pizzocolo.

Experience: In Lombardy, you can not miss a trip to Sirmione with its beautiful old town, thermal baths and the ruins of the Roman villa of the poet Catullus on your Pisces holiday. For art and poetry lovers, a half-day trip to Gabriele d'Annunzio's Vittoriale degli Italiani is a must. If you venture into the narrower area of the lake, be sure to stop in Limone sul Garda, where you can rent a bike and take a ride along the lake - a romantic atmosphere not to be missed.
