For cis women, beauty pageants have become somewhat outdated. Obsolete, even snubbed. Miss Italia is becoming less and less relevant. We highlight its flaws and controversies, and we feel ashamed of having watched it as teenagers, of having mercilessly commented on the contestants’ bodies and hair. For trans women, however, things are different, for many reasons. Different because the trans body is still under attack, because validating it is a social, active, and empowering act. Different because Miss Trans Global Italia, whose awards ceremony took place on October 26 at Ostello Bello Milano Duomo, is much more than a beauty contest. Or rather, it is a pageant where the beauty of trans women is understood in the broadest possible sense, as achievement and as resistance. As a celebration of the strength and authenticity of Italian trans women, offering visibility and a platform to those who fight every day to affirm their identity.

Miss Trans Global Italia 2025: The Awards in Milan

The evening, organized in collaboration with Làme Studio, began with a red carpet and a discussion panel. Among the finalists were Aurora Pili representing Sardinia, Rachele Signorini for Lombardy, and Carol Zanieri for South Tyrol. Absent was Ludovica Vinci from Sicily. Under the guidance of Laura Pereira, the contestants shared their stories and future ambitions. Guests of the evening included Kamakhya Kay, Kevhoney Scarlett, Antonia Monopoli, and many other trans women who represent their community daily, in Italy and beyond, carrying the struggle forward. Throughout the competition, the candidates showcased not only grace and stage presence but also social commitment, awareness, and the desire to be spokespersons for deep cultural change. After a performance and an emotional award ceremony, the crown was taken home by Aurora Pili.
