Fashion and beauty trends spotted at the Golden Globes 2024

From nude lipstick to a passion for red and metallic tones

Fashion and beauty trends spotted at the Golden Globes 2024 From nude lipstick to a passion for red and metallic tones

The stars have finally returned to shine on the red carpet thanks to the Golden Globe 2024 held in the last hours in Los Angeles. According to the judgment of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan and Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos triumphed on the stage, but it was the looks of actresses and actors that captured attention. Choices of celebrities, from Margot Robbie to Carey Mulligan, were characterized by glamour and romance, featuring glows, ruches, sequins, pink, red, and bows, making us dream of Hollywood allure again after the strike that had kept actors away from premieres and presentations had almost made us forget it.

Here are the fashion and beauty trends spotted at the Golden Globes 2024 that we might (possibly) adopt in the coming months.

La vie en rose

Not surprisingly, Margot Robbie paid homage to her character in Barbie and the Barbiecore trend, arriving on the red carpet in a sparkling pink mermaid gown, custom-made by Giorgio Armani Privé, accessorized with a matching tulle stole on the advice of her trusted stylist Andrew Mukamal. Taking inspiration from Barbie Superstar of 1977, many other stars also chose shades of pink: Jennifer Lopez in a confetti pink creation by Nicole+Felicia CoutureHailee Steinfeld in an Old Hollywood-style mermaid gown by Prada paired with black opera gloves. Hunter Schafer looked beautiful and ethereal in another Prada creation.

Shimmering Metallics

Gold, silver, bronze, and metallic finishes proved to be a fashion trend not only on the runways but also at the Golden Globes. Elizabeth Debicki wore a metallic chainmail dress from the FW23 Dior Couture collection, and Emma Stone won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical in a champagne-colored dress by Louis VuittonJulia Garner sparkled in her silver sequined Gucci, as did America Ferrera in Dolce & GabbanaKate Beckinsale (in Atelier Zuhra) and Naomi Watts also shone in swirls of sequins from Fendi Couture. Hints of gold paired with a transparent tulle skirt for Emily Blunt in a custom Alexander McQueen dress, and art deco gold for Issa Rae in Pamella Roland. Notable mention to Taylor Swift in a sparkling green Gucci.

I see red

Red is proclaimed as the color of 2024, not only by fashion runways but also by the stars at the Golden Globes. Selena Gomez drew attention in a red mini dress, custom-made by Armani Privé, giving off a Marilyn Monroe allure. In red PradaAyo Edebiri of The Bear and Florence Pugh flaunted a Valentino Haute Couture dress with a sweetheart neckline, hints of transparency, and three-dimensional floral appliques. Julianne Moore looked refined in a stunning red dress designed by Matthieu Blazy of Bottega Veneta, while Heidi Klum opted for a Barbie in red effect with a dramatic and voluminous dress by Sophie Couture. Dark red for Barry Keoghan, who posed in a piece from Pharrell's first collection for Louis VuittonRachel Brosnahan paired her red Sergio Hudson dress with matching lipstick and a long red bow flowing from her hair tied in a high ponytail.

Peachy-Pink and Nude Lips

Peach Fizz is the Pantone color of 2024, and Hollywood stars were quick to adopt the trend, opting for various shades of pink on their lips, many leaning towards peach instead of the classic red lipstick. The list includes Selena Gomez, Issa Rae, Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt, Billie Eilish, Elizabeth Debicki, Camila Morrone, and more. Reese Witherspoon wore the Westman Atelier: Les Nudes Lip Suede PaletteNatalie Portman remained loyal to Dior, possibly using Rouge Dior in Forever Sensual, and America Ferrera chose Bobbi Brown's Luxe Lipstick in Pink Cloud. Prada for Hunter Schafer's lips, Chanel 31 Le Rouge in Rouge Imaginaire and Longwear Lip Pencil in 182 Rose Framboise for Lily GladstoneSelena Gomez's makeup artist, Melissa Murdick, chose Rare Beauty's Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream in the shade Kindness, while Julia Garner's makeup was done using Gucci products.

Fiocchi

Even the stars are not ready to say goodbye to the Girlhood aesthetic and their love for bows. Some, like Rachel Brosnahan, chose to use bows to decorate their hairstyle, while others incorporated them into their outfits. Among them were Hailee Steinfeld in Prada, Elle Fanning in vintage BalmainAmanda Seyfried in Armani PrivéReese Witherspoon in Monique Lhuillier, and Billie Eilish in Willy Chavarria.

Bobs everywhere

Don't believe those who say we won't be wearing the bob this year, as actresses continue to love and choose it. Jennifer Aniston returned to the midi version of her iconic The RachelAmerica Ferrera prefers it just below the chin with upward-pointing tips, Cailee Spaeny abandoned the 1960s bouffants showcased in Priscilla for a bob with a side parting, Ayo Edebiri prefers the center part, and Greta Gerwig opts for the ultra-short version with a large side sweep.

Red Hair

Red is not only worn on dresses but also on hair. From Dua Lipa's blood-red locks to the fiery roots that liven up Billie Eilish's chignon, from Natasha Lyonne's ginger mane to the golden red of Emma Stone, and the new auburn locks of Hari Nef.
