An evocative fusion of creative cultures in Gucci Women's FW23 collection

A journey through Gucci's heritage, from the collaboration between designers and artisans to the Gucci Hub catwalk

An evocative fusion of creative cultures in Gucci Women's FW23 collection A journey through Gucci's heritage, from the collaboration between designers and artisans to the Gucci Hub catwalk

Gucci Women's Fall Winter 2023 collection was presented as a contemporary evocation of the creative cultures that run through the House's history, representing the ecosystem of designers and artisans that have passed on and developed the House's knowledge from creative to creative for more than a century. The fashion show took place in the heart of the Maison, with lifts carrying the collection through the building to the catwalk, illustrating the creative process behind each new design. The collection played with the familiar feeling of returning to a familiar dimension but rediscovering it with different volumes. It recalled the erotic and glamorous language typical of Gucci in the 1990s and early 2000s, but used a bright colour palette characteristic of the first decade of this century.

The silhouette features tailored garments in maxi versions, while shirts and top and skirt sets are minimalist. Dresses in wool or leather create an oversized structure with voluminous shoulders, necklines and low-slung trousers. Skirts appear in long or knee-length versions in sheer fabrics and precious lace reminiscent of lingerie. In evening dresses, the collection evokes the silhouettes of hearts, a symbol of the Maison's soul, while coloured mask sunglasses alluded to one of Gucci's signature bottles, filtering the world in the colour of Rush. The collection features new variations on the rounded trapeze chain bag, adorned with a horse's head and declined in padded, shearling, crystal and contrasting leather versions. The Jackie bag is presented in its original form but reimagined with a softer construction and in a two-tone and GG-embossed leather version. The classic Gucci loafer is elevated on rubber soles, while the snow boots, originally made for the 1960s ski collection, are reused with staples. The collection is an expression of the extraordinary creative exuberance that has always run through Gucci's veins.
