The beauty of Milan Fashion Week SS27 Between backstage and front row, this is what we saw

The fixed appointment of Milan Fashion Week tells us a lot about the state of beauty, not just on the catwalk. Observing models and guests, backstage and front row, in fact, you can see trends in the making and future ideas, what we are and what we will be next season. But what have we seen, then, in this Milan Fashion Week dedicated to spring summer 2027? Here's a rundown of our favorite looks and moods.
The whimsy, the glow, the hair: the beauty of Milan Fashion Week
Since Friday afternoon, whimsy has returned, which expresses itself mainly on the white and dreamy eyelids thanks to Michele Magnani. Beyond the cat-shaped bags, here we are in the kingdom of Dhruv Kapoor, where the mood is the opposite: contemporary city incrustations. Both fashion shows have been 'rigged' by Mac Cosmetics, one of the protagonists of Milan Fashion Week (beauty) once again. But vibes couldn't be more different than that. From Vivetta, on the other hand, a dialogue between past and future, colors and graphic eye-liner. And it's always Magnani.
Encrustations, but nocturnal and dreamy this time, also by Antonio Marras, with Kiko and Riccardo Morandin. The party becomes messy and decadent, it involves the spectator. The same disorder we find at Florania, with the models wearing ruffled hair and braids. But the braids on the catwalk are not only bohemian, recalling the (in fact) intertwining of leather and wool in clothing. Tuffled but behind their backs, long and wobbly, lonely, they return to Dhruv Kapoor, mentioned above. At Roberto Cavalli, cotton colors win, and the make-up is in the hands of Kiko, who explodes the trend of immortal metallic eyeshadow.

Speaking of hair, at Sportmax, GHD has brought back the much mistreated hoodie, which is transparent, minimal and huge and goes to stop the models' slick back hair knots. In contrast, the other hairstyle on the catwalk is an explosion of curls, just those lioness curls that were talked about on these channels just a few hours ago. Backstage, now our natural habitat, we also have the opportunity to have a chat with Vivetta Ponti, founder of Friday Afternoon. He tells us: “This time the obsession is gardening: curative, but one that escapes your hands. I imagined accessory dresses such as flower baskets or garments that recreate landscapes in perspective, with feathers like grass, up to the tablecloth skirt. Everything stems from the search for materials that serve as inspiration and color chart. Childhood is the basis of our lives, the most beautiful and purest moment: I still live on this naivety and positivity, linked to the colors and feelings of that period. I am passionate about interiors, glasses, tablecloths and even vintage toys.”
The supremacy of hair over makeup
In general, it seemed to us that a particular freedom was expressed on the hair, often more difficult to express on the faces. Bon ton accessories and small truc sur la tête for Marco Rambaldi, plus punk cat-shaped clothespins for Simon Craker, bandanas and bows for Dolce & Gabbana. In short, a mix of past, present and future, which offers us a twist of color, marks the return of metallic and graphic make-up and records a new protagonist in the city: hair.
