Latex lashes: a new way to experiment with your makeup Only three words: glossy, vinyl-like, maximalist

We’ve finally gone back to truly experimenting with makeup, not just with colours or finishes, but with the actual material. With the hope that it won’t become yet another two-week trend, but something a bit more interesting: a way to bring creativity back to the centre of makeup. Even just sitting there, using your own hands to build something different from the usual, like these lashes, the latex lashes, which try to mimic that glossy, almost vinyl-like finish typical of latex. And what’s nice is that this is exactly how certain ideas are born: taking something basic, like eyelashes, and pushing it a little further.

Latex lashes: a new way to experiment with your makeup

Latex lashes: what are they?

Dracula (JENNIE Remix) - Tame Impala & JENNIE

This effect was first made viral by beauty creator Danielle Marcan and, more than a complicated technique, it’s really just a different way of treating false lashes. The idea is to start from a strip of false eyelashes and completely transform their texture, making it extremely glossy and black. The final result is overly shiny, reflective lashes, with that rubber-like effect that immediately feels editorial. The nice thing is that it’s not as hard to wear as it looks: it’s distinctive enough to be noticed, but still wearable, especially if you pair it with a simpler look, maybe with fresh skin and nude lips.

How do you create it?

To recreate it, you only need a few tools, but they are essential for the final result of the lashes: a LED lamp, a gel polish (semi-permanent), and of course, false eyelashes. First, take the false lashes with a pair of tweezers and start coating them with the gel polish. It can be black for the classic latex effect, but nothing stops you from playing with other colours, in fact, a neon shade here is perfect and very on trend. You’ll notice that as you apply it, the hairs will start clumping together: don’t worry, that’s part of the effect. The messier it looks, the better. At that point, cure it under the LED lamp to set the product and achieve that smooth, glossy finish. During this step, the gel hardens and seals the lashes in the polish, creating your latex lashes.
