2019...what? The past year is already a faded memory for most of us but it still provides us with interesting insights, even when it comes to beauty. In fact, Google has recently published its famous A Year in a Search, an enlightening, and very funny collection (for example someone searched how to make a chicken coop or an air conditioner at home), of users’ search habits around the world. The most famous search engine on the planet is in fact also our digital best friend and we are not ashamed to ask the hottest and secret questions, or what to eat and what to do to stay healthy and beautiful. So here are the most searched topics about beauty and wellness.

Surprisingly, nail art is at the top of the list. The most googled expression in the world has been "Color Street", i.e. an independent nail polish brand initially considered rather niche, which then became popular thanks to social media. This is a 100% nail polish strip and there were plenty of researches on how to best apply this special nail polish, where to buy it and the techniques to make it last longer. Will Colour Street arrive in Italy soon too? While waiting here you can find 5 types of manicures to try in 2020

In Europe specifically, we have done 3.3 million researches related to beauty and we seem to be more interested in hair care (482 thousand researches), more than skincare (are we tired of Korean skincare routine yet?) or makeup (research on primers, blush, mascara tbh still are in great hype). In Italy, the most clicked question, for a total of 65 thousand times, has been: "How to make your hair grow faster?". Maybe nss G-Club won't be able to help you do it (pro tip: always follow the moon phases, you never know), but we have some tricks when it comes to do-it-yourself"How to do it..." was in fact another of the beauty trends of 2019, a sign of greater attention to all that is homemade and natural. Greenlight then to thousands and thousands of researches about homemade lip scrubs and face masks. If you have missed our tutorials, here we collected some evergreens that will surely be useful again in 2020.

Regarding wellness and health, in Italy, we are still obsessed with our body shape and four diets were the most searched online: sirt, hypoglycemic, plank, ketogenic. We then asked Google how many fats have a beer, rice, grapes, coconut (?!?) and sushi. Pomegranate, on the other hand, was the most searched word to answer the question "What is good for our body?”

Finally, celebrities were obviously another popular topic and these were the ones we searched the most throughout 2019 to copy their look and style: Billie Eilish, Audrey Hepburn, Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, Amal Clooney and Shia LaBeouf and Cam Newton among men. Thanks for the heads up Google!
