Anfisa Letyago: "Naples plays an important role in my artistic vision" Interview with the DJ of "In My Arms"

If you're into the Italian and international techno scene, especially with a focus on Naples, there's no way you haven’t heard of Anfisa Letyago, one of the most intriguing and recognized names in the field. Her career began in the early 2000s and flourished thanks to the support and collaborations with legends like Carl Cox, DJ Pierre, and Moby. In 2019, she founded her own label, NSDA, an artistic platform that showcases both her music and that of emerging talents. Today, Anfisa Letyago stands as a leading figure in contemporary techno, blending precision, style, and an unmistakable Neapolitan energy.

On July 11, in the heart of the Italian summer, the DJ released her latest single. It's called "In My Arms" and it's already making waves. The track is both futuristic and emotional, building on the foundation laid by the EP Bubbledance, and pushing the boundaries of techno into dreamy, otherworldly dimensions.

Interview with Anfisa Letyago

"Intense, spontaneous, and fun" that’s how Anfisa describes herself when we meet her in Naples for an interview and a few photos, and we couldn’t agree more. Her music speaks for itself, but we still had a few questions for her. "I’ve always had a passion for music," she tells us. "When I was a kid, I wanted to become a musician and a dancer, and then I found my path." She adds, "My inspirations? Definitely Carl Cox, Aphex Twin, Moby, Björk."

Her creativity is explosive. When we ask about the process behind her music and her inspiration, she tells us: "There’s no actual formula. It all depends on the inspiration and the moment I’m in. When I’m at home, where my studio is, I have more time to listen to other artists and gather ideas for my projects. When I’m traveling and performing, I’m so full of adrenaline that it’s a bit harder to find inspiration. There’s no set formula, but it usually happens when I’m in a calm space."

Anfisa finds that calm (especially) in Naples, the city where both her life and career have taken shape. "Naples plays a huge role in my artistic vision," she says confidently. "All my projects are connected to water, the sea, and the city of Naples. For example, my label is called Energia, which is Nisida, an island near Naples. Or take Partenope, a project inspired by the myth of the siren Partenope." The Neapolitan capital is therefore a core part of her identity, which she expresses not only through music but also through her style. "Style is fundamental because it reflects the artist’s sound and personality," she explains, then adds, "I need to be comfortable, to move freely, and not look ridiculous." And skincare? The one product she can’t live without is a hydrating face mask—especially on long flights, to keep her skin from drying out.

The final question, as always, is about the future: "What’s in my future? I wish I knew," she says. "I’d like to keep doing what I’m doing now, but with even more ease and serenity." And with that, kisses from Naples.
