All the demonstrations against patriarchy we want to go to From North to South, here are the cities to join the chorus of those fighting for a more just and safe world for all

On this 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, it is time to make some noise. This Saturday, numerous demonstrations will take place throughout Italy to fight for a fairer and safer world for all - in the name of Giulia Cecchettin and all the more than one hundred women who were killed in 2023, but also in the name of those who suffer violence every day. Physically, psychologically, economically. There is so much frustration, but also the determination not to remain silent, the will to unhinge a patriarchal system based on subterfuge, but also to demand concrete measures, such as funding for primary prevention and anti-violence centres, as well as compulsory affective and sexual education in schools.

The Non Una di Meno collective has organised two national mobilisations for 25 November in Rome and Messina, stressing that they "do not want to be a commemoration of the victims of femicide, but a focal point of revolt against the structural violence that affects our lives. It is therefore not a ritual moment, but the beginning of a daily mobilisation - in schools, workplaces, neighbourhoods, alongside feminist and transfeminist anti-violence centres - which, with the discovery of Giulia Cecchettin's body, spilled over into spontaneous processions in squares all over Italy."

The wave of reaction to this collective outcry, which has been suppressed for far too long, is strong and is directed against an everyday excuse that is not a newly emerging phenomenon, but affects women as well as non-binary and LGBTQIAPK people, people with disabilities, racialised people, migrants and second generations, sex workers and prisoners. And she is ready to take to the streets all over Italy, from north to south.

For Giulia, for all the others and for ourselves: stop silence. Let's burn it all down. Let's make ourselves heard. Everyone must decide for themselves how.
