The nail art looks to show off in October 2026 From textures to colors, this autumn's nails stand out for their details
New month, new nails. The rule is simple, and for some almost a creed. October brings warmer colours and more refined details, without falling back on the season’s usual classics like burgundy and berry. It’s all about playing with textures, prints and reinterpretations, for nails that feel autumnal, but not too much.
The nail art to wear in October 2026
Snake print
At Paris Fashion Week, on the runway of Dior Spring/Summer 2027, snake-skin-effect manicures created by Ama Quashie made an appearance. More than a design, they looked almost like a piece of fabric laid over the nail, with a snakeskin texture covering the entire surface.
Syrup nails
The syrup nails are a reinterpretation of jelly nails, jam nails and all those transparent, glossy manicures we have seen over the past few years, but for autumn the colour shifts slightly. Instead of brighter summer shades, we get browns, oranges and other warm tones that recall the colour of maple syrup or molasses. The effect is still that of a transparent, glossy, almost layered manicure, with the natural nail showing through underneath.
Ribbon nails
The ribbon nails take inspiration from the bows and ribbons we have been seeing in every possible form among niche fashion designers on Instagram, but not, as you might imagine, because they are drawn directly onto the nail. The reference is mostly about the texture: resulting in a matte and metallic manicure, with an effect similar to grandma nails, with colours and reflections that recall the material of ribbons.
Reverse french manicure
The reverse french is a version of the classic French manicure that moves the line from the tip of the nail to the base, following the shape of the cuticles. For October, it works well with classic autumn colours, from burgundy to dark blue, perhaps playing with the imperfection of the line: slightly blurred, not too precise, almost reminiscent of the texture of a wool scarf.
Grape blue
Grape blue is a very dark blue, almost black, and super glossy. It is a deep shade that creates an almost wet effect on the nails, especially on a short manicure with a simple shape. I’d say it can be a respectable alternative to classic black.
