Sea for Tomorrow: BioNike and Worldrise together to protect our sea
A collaboration that has lasted for years, but in 2025 it will be even stronger

June 6th, 2025
The sea is a vital source of life for our planet: it produces half of the oxygen we breathe, absorbs CO₂, and hosts an incredible variety of species. But in order to keep giving us all this, it needs to be protected. That’s the inspiration behind Sea for Tomorrow, the new campaign by BioNike, the Italian brand known for its commitment to sensitive skin, which this year renews its dedication to protecting marine ecosystems in collaboration with the association Worldrise.
Sea for tomorrow, the new campaign by BioNike
With Sea for Tomorrow, BioNike supports two key projects. The first is 30x30 Italy Alliance, an initiative aiming to protect at least 30% of Italy’s seas by 2030 through the creation of new Marine Protected Areas. The second is CAMPUS AMP, a training program for students and recent graduates who aspire to become marine conservation experts. This year, thanks to BioNike, 20 scholarships will be offered to attend intensive courses in Sardinia and Puglia, combining theoretical lessons, field experiences, and meetings with industry professionals. As Marianna Granata, Marketing & Communication Director at BioNike, explains: "We are proud to renew our support for marine ecosystem conservation for the fourth consecutive year, an essential lifeline for our planet. The Sea for Tomorrow project reflects our commitment to initiatives where scientific research, education, and hands-on action come together to make a real difference." Worldrise, led by Mariasole Bianco, highlights how crucial it is not only to protect the sea, but to do so effectively and sustainably by investing in the new generations to ensure this mission becomes a reality.
Defence Sun: effective protection and respect for the sea

But BioNike’s commitment goes beyond awareness: their products also play a part. The Defence Sun sunscreen line has been fully revamped to be safer for the skin and more respectful of the marine environment. Its formulas are developed with UVA and UVB filters selected for their eco-compatibility, and are free from harmful ingredients like octinoxate, oxybenzone, and octocrylene, which are often toxic to marine life. In addition, the Defence Sun line features the NBCS Complex, a blend of natural and innovative active ingredients including niacinamide, glycine betaine, carnosine, and a botanical extract that help protect skin cells from damage caused by sun exposure and pollution. The products are also water & wear resistant and formulated to be biodegradable in seawater, helping to reduce their environmental impact. BioNike has also embraced sustainable packaging: bottles made from recycled PET, aluminum cans, and tubes containing recycled materials, along with innovative solutions like the “Bag on Valve” system to minimize waste.
