Unfortunately, we can never have enough trash
Temptation Island Spain is proof
February 7th, 2025
We love watching Southern families argue on C'è Posta per Te, couples forming on Uomini e Donne between fights and jealousy fits, only to break up the following summer at a Sardinian resort on Temptation Island. It's the circle of life. This last show, in particular, offers us boyfriends turning red with anger in front of the screens, girlfriends crying as they tell Filippo Bisciglia about all the wrongs they've endured, and a series of questionable encounters between boyfriends, girlfriends, tempters, and temptresses. In short, it has everything one could wish for, yet it’s not enough.
What’s Happening on Temptation Island Spain
It’s not enough because, despite the undeniable mega trash, the desperate runs, the fights that gave us catchphrases, Lenticchio, and everything in between, the Spanish version outshines it, speeding past on the trash highway’s fast lane. From what we’ve gathered from the viral videos—ones that require no Spanish degree to understand because the laws of cheating are universal—one couple on the Spanish version of the show put on quite the spectacle. She decided to sleep with a tempter, while he (the now-famous Montoya) watched the act unfold under the covers, in the black-and-white glow of infrared cameras. Then, he ran barefoot on the beach toward the girlfriends' villa, but not before shouting all sorts of expletives, ripping his shirt open, and collapsing to his knees, devastated in front of the screen showing the images of betrayal.

Trash That Outdoes Trash, and We Keep Watching
Social media went crazy over it. Memes about Montoya and his (ex? No updates yet) girlfriend are everywhere—his dramatic reactions, their love story. According to insiders, he had allegedly cheated on her before, making his reaction even more ironic. Some jokingly question whether exposing a betrayed boyfriend to explicit footage of his partner’s affair is a form of psychological torture. Others debate Italy’s censorship policies. Because, let’s be honest, Mediaset would never air a video this explicit, despite its clear inclination for trash TV. Above all, there’s our thirst for the tacky, the kitsch, the easy emotions, the scandal. Who knows if we'll soon find something else to obsess over—hopefully something more meaningful.
