The advance of tank soles continues, going back to clunky, massive, over-the-top sandals. From flip-flops with maxi soles to the legendary Suicoke with straps, past Prada's monolith soles and the technical fabrics used by all. The chunky sandals claim a prominent place in the shoe closet and show that they can adapt to temperatures and terrain, which is not a given.

Chunky sandals were more or less everywhere on the SS23 catwalks. Worth mentioning are the bright pink and black ones by Versace, accompanied by prints in tones between natural and animal prints, the fiery red ones by Stella McCartney, asymmetrical, with thin laces and closed at the ankle; Proenza Schouler's white and fluffy ones, paired with a voluminous skirt and crochet top; Monse's green and white ones, worn with a pleated mini skirt and a knitted layer; Jonathan Simkhai's beige ones with a blazer-look micro dress, a slave bracelet and masked glasses.
