5 things you don’t know about Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment Plus one: you can now stay at her own home

Today Carrie Bradshaw is so talked after, even more than 23 years ago when she made her debut on the pages of the New York Star with the Sex and the City column. First of all there are the shoes she wears today in the reboot of "And just like that...", designed by the eponymous brand owned by the actress who gives her face, Sarah Jessica Parker. And then the latest news about her iconic tulle skirt that will be auctioned for a good cause, on the occasion of the annual fundraising event Fashion for Action. But there’s a third detail that sex expert fans can’t get out of their head, which is her apartment. Let’s say that by now Carrie Bradshaw's house, at 66 Perry Street in  New York West Village, has become even more iconic than the villa on Cherry Avenue of Mary Poppins or the chalet in the Cullen forest of Twilight. Loving that apartment is very easy, and the credit goes in part to that closet of dreams, which contained clothes of John Galliano and shoes of Manolo Blahnik passed to history. In the years of the TV series Sex and the city, the house has evolved, from a mix of shabby furniture to a more cosmopolitan reinterpretation, between sky blue walls, boudoir, and retro sofas. But are we sure that you fans know these 5 curiosities about his apartment during the seasons of SATC?

How big is her closet?

Carrie’s closet is not just a pile of clothes and accessories but a sort of boudoir of memories. Right there, within those narrow walls, the sex expert revealed secrets on the phone with friends or with Aiden - do you remember when she swore him on the Chanel not to tell Steve that Miranda had accidentally gotten pregnant with him? - and highlights such as the preparations for the first date with Big or the crying looking at his wedding dress branded Vivienne Westwood. However, in some scenes, Carrie’s closet looks very long, if seen in perspective from the bedroom, and at other times looks very small, with a view from the bathroom. What we can say is that, of course, the cinematic angles change depending on the zoom but the walk-in closet of Carrie is of a standard size, narrow and long, with the high ceiling that allows you to organize practical containers.

Often the walls and the paintings appear moved

Carrie loves to give, from time to time, a change of look to her apartment: it happened for the walls, first egg-shell color and then sky blue, and it happened also for the arrangement of the paintings in the first movie after the TV series. That said, however, in some scenes it seems that even the walls have been demolished. Small details make it clear, like the headboard of the bed that moves, and pictures that are not always in the same position.

Even doorbells change

The entrance to Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment is one of the most iconic doors in TV series history. Memorable, tragic, or very romantic scenes happened in front of that door. But did you ever notice that the facades often changed shape and color? Probably the production, for the sake of the scenes, moved to recreate the right setting, including the entrance to 960 Madison Avenue or 62nd Street. For example, on the telephone chair, right next to his bed, in some scenes there is the work Writing To Sell by Scott Meredit, published in 1996, while on the shelves often appears his first book, Sex and the City.

But how small is his kitchen?

Okay, Carrie Bradshaw had stated that he used the oven as a container of sweaters. And the sex expert, of course, wasn’t much of a cook. But when her lover Alexander Petrovsky, intent on trapping a little mouse that had entered her home, moves between the stove and the pantry, we realize how much this kitchen is actually small. Now that you know these details, why not touch them with your own hands in New York City.
