Sensitive skin: 5 most common mistakes How to keep your skin healthy and glowy without causing irritations

Sensitive skin tends to get easily irritated and is more prone to react negatively to physical or chemical agents: an annoying condition that makes skincare routine complicated and difficult to manage. While in its milder form it can be identified with the sensation of "red or tight skin", in severe cases it can lead to chronic conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. But what are the causes? Among the main ones of its manifestation we find substances and external environmental factors which, causing a weakening of the epidermal barrier, cause a consequent increase in its reactivity. The skin of the face is generally the one that most easily manifests the typical symptoms of sensitivity, since it is the area of the body with the thinnest and most exposed epidermis: an incorrect beauty routine can risk worsening the situation and it is therefore important to understand the main mistakes to avoid when treating sensitive skin. Did you know? Here they are, listed below.

1. Use aggressive, synthetic or scented products

Synthetic ingredients such as parabens, petrolatum, sulphates and emulsions can irritate the skin and alter its natural beauty by excessively removing sebum and natural oils. In this case it is essential to choose green cosmetics, free of irritants that respect and take care of the skin, as well as of nature. In addition, to combat irritated skin it is advisable to choose fragrance free products, i.e. without fragrances. With prolonged use, the fragrance has the potential to damage sensitive skin cells causing redness, itching and cracking. It is therefore better to use specific products, such as creams or masks with a soothing action, always paying attention to control skin reactivity.

2. Exfoliation gone too far

Exfoliation can be a double-edged sword when it comes to sensitive skin. In fact, while on the one hand the face scrub allows you to clean the skin and free the pores, on the other hand it can lead to further sensitization of the same and to the appearance of redness and inflammation.

3. Use super hot water when cleansing

Another common mistake we often make is washing our face with water that is too hot during cleansing, believing it will open the pores better and allow skincare products to work better. There is a very common mistake in this procedure: the skin contains natural moisturizing oils that are eliminated by hot water, causing dehydration and therefore irritation; better if lukewarm.

4. Forgetting your Eau Thermale

The constant use of thermal water can have miraculous effects on sensitive skin as it has soothing, moisturizing and anti-aging properties. In addition, it has healing properties thanks to its high content of minerals such as zinc, selenium and copper, which activate the synthesis of collagen and accelerate the healing of skin wounds.

5. Use too many products together

The abuse and random layering of cosmetics is one of the main causes of irritated skin. Overloading with ingredients that do not work in synergy with each other can be very risky because it alters the pH of the skin by irritating and reddening the skin layer.
