5 parks in Milan to visit over the weekends The ideal locations to spend free time outdoors, immersed in nature, discovering hidden places in the city

With the memory of the lockdown restrictions farther and farther away, at least for the moment, and the arrival of the first warm days, the desire to spend our free time outdoors is increasing, even in the city. In Milan, courtyards and dehors are filled with tables for outdoor dining, while the parks host open-air events, small hidden secrets and outdoor works of art: thus they become the place-to-be to spend the weekend with friends in a carefree way. nss G-Club has selected 5 locations in Milan where you can spend a day surrounded by nature.

Villa Visconti Borromeo Litta Park

The historic Villa Visconti Borromeo Litta, theater of parties but also an important meeting point for artists and culture since the end of the 16th century, stands inside a park that hides liberty greenhouses, mosaics, statues, fountains, botanical gardens, water games and is the ideal place to spend a day of relaxation and discovery of art and culture. From May 2021 the Villa reopens to the public and can be visited by reservation, and will host several interesting events including Wunder Mrkt - il Mercato delle Meraviglie, which will take place on June 12th and 13th. In maximum safety and in compliance with restrictions, Wunder Mrkt offers two days of culture, shopping, craftsmanship, which meet in the spectacular setting of the park awarded as the most beautiful in Italy, as well as the possibility of buying unique pieces, handcrafted creations, objects collectibles, vintage, plants, art and design.

Parco Sempione

Undoubtedly the most famous park in Milan, it doesn't need many introductions. Ideal for spending a day of relaxation, but not only: the park offers various activities and secrets to discover, just like the Cascina Nascosta, a space inside the park dedicated to local agriculture and sustainability, where you can have lunch or have an aperitif; the proximity to La Triennale allows you to dedicate yourself to the discovery of contemporary art and design after a well-deserved relaxation; finally, why not end the day by visiting the Castello Sforzesco in Milan before stopping at one of the kiosks for an happy hour?

BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi

Probably the most "chic" park in Milan, located in the center and part of the Porta Nuova urban project, BAM - Biblioteca Alberi Milano is the green heart of the city skyline. An example of a contemporary urban garden, in its more than 10 hectares it houses an extensive botanical collection, and offers the possibility of "adopting" a tree thanks to the initiative Radici. BAM is an eclectic, innovative park, founded on the value of sustainability and made of paths and irregular fields that intertwine, which hosts a cultural program made up of BAMoment, collective experiences aimed at a heterogeneous audience.

Parco Nord

Spending a few hours in Parco Nord, you will suddenly feel like you are far from Milan, in a place where you can breathe the air of countryside and nature. In reality, Parco Nord is located in a peripheral area of the city, and hosts a great variety of flora, fauna, events and activities also aimed at developing biodiversity and bringing attention to environmental sustainability issues. The ideal place to get lost in nature, stroll among the lakes, stop for a drink at the Ristoro and then resume until the sun goes down.

La Collina dei Ciliegi

City park located in the Bicocca area of Milan, Collina dei Ciliegi is a romantic place to watch the sunset over the city from above or to relax in the shade of a flowering tree. The top can be reached via a spiral path or by direct flights of stairs and along the "climb" it is possible to observe the numerous trees that cover the surface, especially the collection of flowering cherry trees from which the park takes its name. At this time of the year, the cherry blossoms give the park an even more pleasant and colorful atmosphere.
