Timothée Chalamet like Edward Scissorhands In the new Cadillac ad presented during the 2021 Super Bowl

Edward Scissorhands has a son. His name is Edgar, he looks like his father, has the same problems in everyday life and the nice face of Timothée Chalamet. The most popular actor in recent years turns into Johnny Depp's heir in the new Cadillac ad, presented at Super Bowl 2021.

David Shane revisits Tim Burton's cult movie moving it from 1990 to 2021 with the help of Winona Ryder who plays once again the role of the blonde Kim Boggs and tells us "the story of a boy with scissors for hands. No, not that one." But Edgar.

His life is as complicated as it was for his father. Same dark look, same pallor, scars on his face and, most importantly, same blades that limit his ability to do even the simplest everyday actions: he can't play rugby with his friends because he punctures the ball; at work, his sculptural salads are criticized by his boss and in class, the teacher looks at him sideways because he attracts all the magnets. For Edgar Scissorhands, things get better when his mother gives him a Cadillac Lyriq, Detroit company's new fully electric car, which, thanks to its hands-free driving assistance program, allows the boy to feel normal for the first time.

The short sequel to Edward Scissorhands made by Cadillac, which follows in the tradition of Super Bowl ads that over the years have revisited cult favorites such as Home Alone, The Big Lebowski or Groundhog Day, had the blessing of Tim Burton:

It's rare when a work you're proud of continues to live on and evolve with the times, even after 30 years. I'm glad to see Edgar coping with the new world! I hope both fans and those being introduced to Edward Scissorhands for the first time enjoy it.

Winona Ryder was equally enthusiastic, praising her new set partner:

It was pretty surreal to have Timothée play my son. Timothée is an incredible guy, so talented and sweet. I felt a pretty instant bond with him.

While the young actor, who will soon return to work with Luca Guadagnino in a horror-romance titled Bones & All, told Vogue:

Edward Scissorhands was a movie I adored growing up and the opportunity to step into that world was a dream come true. I was also excited about LYRIQ’s emphasis on environmental sustainability and cutting down on using fossil fuel dependent cars. It felt like the perfect combination of legacy with an eye towards the future.
