The lights on the balconies, the hot chocolate, going ice skating and maybe even having fun with the snow, finding the perfect gift for your special someone, and so on. December has always been like this. And being the last month of the year it is also a special period from start to finish, with the countdown to Christmas and the one to the next year. December is a month of hope where the achievements are celebrated, and the goals for the following year are set accordingly.

Also in this particular year, December is the only month that manages to be tinged with a thousand colors, also thanks to its amazing soundtrack!

1. WHAM! - LAST CHRISTMAS

This song is the first on the list because surely this year we will have time to think and compare this Christmas with the past one (and not only): the lyrics of the song actually have very little to do with Christmas but rather talk about a relationship. ended badly and how it is necessary to make the "accounts" for the whole following year. 3. John Lennon & Yoko Ono - HAPPY XMAS (WAR IS OVER) 

This song begins with John and Yoko's whispers of Christmas wishes to their children Kyoto and Julian. Written by the spouses and co-produced by Phil Spector, the song is inspired by a traditional folk song called Stewball, and tells the story of a racehorse who never drank water, only wine. In fact, it is not born as a Christmas ballad, but rather as a piece that contains a political message of non-violent protest against the war in Vietnam, a theme very dear to the couple who in previous years had started their Bed in, a form of non-violent protest against war and message of peace.

The song was released in 1971 in the US and arrived the following year in Europe, but only after Lennon's death did it reach second place in the English music chart.

 

4. Brenda Lee - ROCKIN' AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Rockin 'Around the Christmas Tree was written by Johnny Marks, the same author of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and A Holly Jolly Christmas, therefore an expert on the subject, one of the few composers of Christmas songs to enter the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The song was first recorded by Brenda Lee in 1958 when she was only 13 years old. With this song we begin to introduce rock in Christmas songs, a novelty much appreciated by the audience.

The song is also part of the soundtrack of the movie Home Alone. In 2008, for the song's 50th anniversary, Lee's original version sold over 25 million copies, making it the fourth best-selling digital download of any Christmas single.

 

5. JINGLE BELLS

It needs no introduction, Jingle Bells is the symbol of the holidays: the song has also overcome the barriers of the earth's atmosphere, it was in fact the first song performed in space! It has just turned 160 and shows no signs of "getting old", it remains a timeless classic.

7. Eartha Kitt - SANTA BABY 

Santa Baby, interpreted for the first time in the 1950s by the star symbol of African American beauty Eartha Kitt, was then revived over time by artists of the caliber of Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and the Pussycat Dolls. It is no coincidence that this is the sexiest and most consumerist song of Christmas. In fact, it speaks of a woman who turns to Santa Claus to spoil herself with futile and expensive (but well appreciated) gifts such as furs, yachts and jewelry.

Obviously, Micheal Bublè could not miss. As you may know, this song was written in 1951 by Willson and over the years even the title has undergone a change from "It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas" to "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas".

The modern city is the perfect setting for this song, which describes all the stereotypes of our traditions, with children waiting for Santa Claus, waiting to open the presents under the tree, lights and decorations. All accompanied by an intoxicating scent of cinnamon biscuits. With this song, the anticipation of Christmas is even more pleasant!

 

10. WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS

You thought we forgot it, but no! Last but not least, perhaps the first song, which has united all the populations since it was written in England in 1500.
