Cartier rewards female empowerment With the Cartier Women's Initiative, the brand supports women entrepreneurs from all over the world

Cartier's commitment to female empowerment remains even in pandemic times. The French brand has just announced the seven winners of 2020 Cartier Women's Initiative, selected by an independent international jury among 1200 candidates from over 162 countries. From Mexican Adriana Luna Diaz with her agricultural products that renew biodiversity and soil fertility to Temie Giwa-Tubosun, owner of a medical distribution company that uses data and technology to discover and provide essential medical products for hospitals in Nigeria, each of them is a unique resource capable of improving the world a little bit. They are strong, self-reliant women who, with hard work and self-confidence, promote well-being, fight to reduce gender inequalities, build sustainable cities and encourage responsible consumption and production.

Since 2006, the Cartier Women's Initiative, in collaboration with INSEAD, one of the largest and most important business schools, has helped 240 women entrepreneurs from 56 different countries achieve their goals by focusing on their leadership skills and supporting their businesses with more than $3 million.

The 2021 edition of the Cartier Women's Initiative, dedicated to female-owned and managed companies from all countries and sectors that aim to generate a strong and sustainable social and/or environmental impact, will be open to submit applications until July 31.

To participate in the initiative, certain criteria must be met:

1. Companies must be for-profit and must have been generating revenue for at least one year and satisfy at least one of the United Nations' sustainable development goals.

2. In addition, companies must not have raised more than $2 million in dilutive funding and must be in the early stages of their growth.

3. The main leadership role must be played by a woman, who is also required to hold a major shareholding in the company.

4. If selected as finalists, candidates should be available to dedicate 3-4 hours a week from January to April to Cartier Women's Initiative and take part in a one-week workshop in May.
