FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened The epic festival fail tale is coming to Netflix

Over the summer of 2017, a story emerged of one of the most ambitious music festival events to ever be conceived that ended up turning into one of the most epic party fails of modern times. Aiming to take place over two weekends in April and May of 2017, on an island in the Bahamas called Great Exuma, which was said to have formerly been owned by drug baron Pablo Escobar.

Rapper Jah Rule, together with his business partner Billy McFarland, announced that they were throwing a bash on the island that was to include some of the biggest socialites and models in attendance, among them Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Emily Ratajkowski which all promoted the event on their social media outputs. Advertised as the ultimate VIP event, Fyre festival was to be the pinnacle luxury event where guests were promised fancy villas, gourmet food, and musical acts along the calibers of Jay-Z and Kanye West. The festival quickly sold out and everything seemed and bit too good to be true, which later showed itself to be more than true. What followed was an epic tale of disaster where basically everything was revealed to be untrue, villas were in reality disaster relief tents with dirt floors and mattresses that were soaking wet. Only poor quality cheese sandwiches were provided as food and things quickly escalated into mayhem and looting ensued as the reality of the situation started to dawn on the disparate festival goers.

Netflix is now releasing a documentary on the whole crazy story that will take you through the motions of, FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. Launching globally on Netflix January 18, check out the trailer above.
