Google launches a new beauty AR try-on

Google launches a new beauty AR try-on The newest feature allows users to virtually try on thousands of makeup products before buying

The days when we used to go into perfumeries and spend hours testing every lipstick and shade of eyeshadow available are over. In the age of Coronavirus, the new frontier of online shopping is the virtual try-on. We already told you that, during the last lockdown months, more and more people have approached digital platforms to stay connected, informed and inspired about trends in the beauty world.  From Chanel to YSL, many brands are capitalizing on this hype to develop apps that use facial recognition combined with AR technology to make people try out their products online in real-time. Now also Google is entering the industry by launching its own try-on service.

The Mountain View giant has created, in partnership with ModFace and Perfect Corp, two companies specializing in augmented reality and artificial intelligence, a feature that will allow users to see how that peach lipstick, that purple glitter eye shadow or that blue eye-liner matches their complexion, suggesting the perfect combination for their face and style.

The way it works is simple. As soon as you type online the beauty item will appear the new tool, clicking on it you can see that lip gloss or mascara worn by different models or, using your camera (of pc, smartphone or tablet), on yourself. Among the brands that so far have joined the project of the platform, there are L'OrealMAC CosmeticsBlack Opal e Charlotte Tilbury.

In addition to the AR try-on, Google will offer, among the videos in the Google Shopping area, the advice of beauty (but also of fashion and lifestyle) experts who will show and explain to consumers the newest and most interesting products of the moment.

Sadly, currently, Google's virtual try-on which makes our online shopping more and more immersive is only available in the States, but we hope it will soon arrive in Italy too.
